Shocks are getting bad on my Legacy, what is recommended for the Subaru? This will be rallied and ice raced (not full out competitive lol) along with daily winter ride.

    What fits?
    What swaps?
    Sway bar options?
    Height difference in springs?
    Spring rates?
    Coilovers overrated?
    Brands? (good, bad)

Just a low down on options and suggestions
    Thanks

By putting STI springs in will that lower the car? Do I need a specific shock to counter act this (less travel)
Will they fit in a 98 Legacy?

Also does lowering it have a positive or negative effect in Rally?

i have some kyb gr2's with sti springs ready to go send me a pm if interested. the drop of a sti spring is pretty small compared to wrx. as far as fitting on a 98 leggy i dont think they will.

Actually the lowering will mostly be done by the kyb agx shocks, but the springs will also too. If you haven't already checked RS25.com, I highly recommend it. They have a whole sub-category for suspension. You can also check what they have for sell there. Also check up on legacygt.com, I've never been there though. I would give you the links but doing this off my phone. Lol

they are for a wrx. less then 3k on the rear struts unknown on the front but they dont clunk and the springs have about 60k

Only thing that might be different between those setups is the rear tophats. which you should be able to just swap from you legacy struts to the GR2s.

KYB struts will have the exact same length and spring perch location as the stockers, so they will definitely not effect ride height.

stock STi springs will be a higher spring rate. I know they actually raise the ride height on a lighter GC impreza, a BD legacy will probably be about stock height.

I run GR2s and slightly stiffer-than-stock springs (similar change to STi springs on a legacy) on my XT6. Great combo of comfort and handling. throw some poly bushings in there to improve response, and you'd have a solid setup.

I plan on doing a similar setup on my Celica (almost identical suspension geometry to an EJ subaru).

whatever you feel up to. They require being pressed in for some pieces, so depending on the equipment to which you have access that can make it a major project. But even just for sway bars and steering rack can be a big help.

I have run 7 different suspension set-ups on my STI. The best hands down for the money for daily driving and light rally use was tokico dspecs with usdm sti springs. RS&SP's are on the car now and are definitely the best for pure rally performance

struts and springs will give you 2-4" of lift.
