Just curious if anyone has had this problem. My car will shake at idle. You can really feel it when its cold. There is no hesitation under load. It feels like a missfire but usally you will feel it under a load to. The car is totally stock with 53000 miles on it. It has original plugs which I will chage soon. I also have started making a grounding kit for the car.

when you mean shake, where does it seem to come from?

Have you opened the hood to see if it's actually coming from the engine?

could be a number of things....
I personally would check the engine compartment and check your engine mounts. Start there...

another note: If you have 53K on the plugs I would replace them. I think SOA says 60K, but I personally believe that is too long.

Did it shake BEFORE your first mod?

    ??

For what its worth. My stock WRX had this idle shake at 132k miles when I bought it and I replaced the engine at 144k miles because of low compression. When I swapped in the 2.5L I used STI engine and trans mounts and it has a shake at idle too. Compression check showed a VERY healthy engine. I think these cars have a little vibration at idle due to the boxer design.

Yeah it did. Its a shake form the engine. You can just feel it at idle through the whole car. Its like engine just stumbles a little bit. One of the guys at my work said carbon can do that. Since it only happens when its cold.

The day I bought my WRX I noticed a shake at idle, like you're describing. Had subaru look at it, they said that it's normal. I also bought the car in January, cold. Unless you just started to notice the shake, I wouldn't worry about it.

I wasnt to worried about it. It is just an anoance. I just thought I would check and see if there was a fix for it. I am going to spank some new plugs in it when I put the exhaust on this weekend and see what happens.

Thats what I was thinking. Did you just dump it in the gas tank or use it to clean the intake?

I just ran my car until it was empty, filled the tank, then poured in the seafoam, which you have to do a little at a time because there is a small hole which pulls it in and if you pour to much it spills out, it treats a full tank, so make sure you fill yuor tank when you do it, if you really wanna get nasty with it you could get two cans and do your intake and your gas, but i did it in just the gas tank and it worked fine, increased my gas mileage too.

I will slap a can in the intake, one in the gas tank, and spark plugs this weekend. I will update on if it helped.
