The 2006 Shooting Star Rally is right around the corner. We want to see you there. Competition Registration as well as Worker Registration is open! Ever want to see the roads we rally on? Here's your chance! Sign up to be a worker and you'll get to see full on racecars going really fast down small gravel roads. Also, if you want to help set the course up, you can come out with me in the morning and actually drive the roads! The headquarters is based out of the Shooting Star Casino and the rooms are cheap @ $55. On top of that, you get $25 in discounts on food and other items. July 15th, and i marked it on the Calender. What day would you be setting it up? You can almost count on me being there. Just gotta keep it open. What jobs could a 15 years young person do? Set up tape? And its an all weekend rally? Yea, i will definatly make it up. Will Mayhem be there with the Mustang? Don't really know what to say. People of MNSubaru, try to make it! It will be lots of fun!
I am the Rallymaster (meaning I am in charge of the course) for this event. I will be there for sure. I am hoping the car will be there. We have some repairs to accomplish after the BIR event last weekend. I am pretty sure we spun a rod bearing. I'm gonna get REALLY familiar with pulling engines out of Mustangs. If we get the car fixed, we will be running car 0 which is the last organizer car before the first competitor car.
We would prefer that you regisiter as soon as possible so we can begin making assignments. You can sign up online at; http://www.marblesoft.com/rally/workers/index.php?register=22 We will, however, take workers that just show up at the event. Signing up in advance helps us greatly and helps insure you get a work assignment you would prefer.
There are certain jobs that cannot be done by minors. You will need a Minor waiver signed by your parent/s in order to work any position. Contact Mark Larson or myself for further information.
Thanks for helping answer some of the questions, Mark. Use the links in the original post to sign up as a worker. You'll need to create a RallyMaster PRO account, but it's free and easy. Once you create an account, you can specify what type of job you'd like to do. Outside of the "during event" job you're assigned, you can help banner the morning before the event and the debanner the morning after the event. It's not uncommon for someone to banner in the morning, work as a course marshal during the event, then debanner the next day.
I will check that out when i get home It'd be alot of fun to debanner/banner. We need to get more MNSubie people up there and have a meet or somthing. We'll see ya up there!
Well, im signed up as worker. Now i need a parent permission form or somthing since i am a minor, where do i do that? at the race, or online? Thanks for the link, i look forward to seeing you all up there!
If you will have a parent/guardian with oyu at the event, you can fill out the minor waiver there. If not, request one from: [email protected]
Im not going to be able to make the trip. Dumb i guess. i will be at ojibwe though. So, i guess i have to call in. Will do. Thanks for the offer anyways. -Janik
This looks like its going to be a lot of fun. I enjoyed volunteering at the last BIR event and I look forward to volunteering for the Shooting Star Rally. Do I need to reserve a room at the casino or are they pretty flexible, i.e. have plenty of rooms? Are most people coming up Friday night or Saturday early a.m.?
Depends on what else is going on at the Casino that weekend. We've had some big event happen alongside the rally and the place has been packed. But if you don't reserve ahead of time, you don't get the cheap rate and freebies. You can always cancel your reservation if you can't make it, so I'd get my reservation now, register under the room block "ClubRally" to get the discount. I'd say of the competitors, 60% show up Friday night, the other 40% early Saturday. The rally staff are pretty much all there by Friday afternoon, and course-setup (one of the most fun jobs, IMHO) generally starts early enough on Saturday morning (9am) that you wouldn't want to drive up from the cities that morning.
