This week has been pretty interesting down here in Texas. Normally the ice storms that happen mess up the roads for a day and then it melts off the next day. This week cold temps kept it around a few days before getting a few inches of snow yesterday to top it off. My office was closed since Tuesday (everyone just works from home on these "snow days") so I wasn't forced to drive in it. However I did mount up my Hakkas (which obviously haven't been used much down here) and venture out for some fun with the Spec B. Remember the ice storm y'all had back around Thanksgiving? I was up there for that so imagine that kind of ice with no salt or sand to help you out. That's what it was like here for 3 days.

I wasn't a fan of throttle-by-wire with my 05 LGT and so far with the Spec B I just run it in S# as soon as possible so I haven't played much with it. Driving on the snow and ice in traffic the other day I left it in S so that the throttle response wasn't so quick and it seemed to help crawling along. I didn't feel a need to take it down to I mode with the Hakkas, but I could see it helping with different tires. I even thought about driving with winter boots on and how tough it was to be precise on the throttle with them so even that might be a good reason to run in I or S mode in the winter.

I've not really played with the modes much on dry pavement. Has anyone tried using I mode to reduce fuel consumption? If it's just throttle response I'm not sure if there would be much savings in highway driving.

I generally use S in the winter and S# in the summer. I very rarely will use I mode, maybe on road trips.
