Kind of makes a "whrrrrrrrr" noise, no cranking, ya know BloomingtonSuby wants $470 for a new starter, lol . Update, as I sit here posting (at the shop) it appears one side of the starter that holds the starter on the car just sheered off ???? so the starter is "good" but only half attached to the car. $470 later I'll be on the road I checked prices, and the $470 is an installed price, what were my other options really, I was suppose to be leaving town, a couple hours ago, "luckily" the starter broke when I was still in lakeville. Do I get better gas mileage now that my pocket it that much lighter? Just venting -Nick
Really I'm stuck at the shop, with nothing to do, but atleast they have wireless internet Atleast now I have convinced the wife the flashing of my ecu this morning didn't cause this.
Turning the key too fast? maybe, turning the key too fast and breaking you starter, highly doubtful, btw still stuck at the shop, parts guy is stuck in traffic Thanks for the humor though, I think I've reached the end of the internet, and I'm bored...
That sucks, man. Totally bummer. That's not really a part that was supposed to break; because usually the thing that goes first would be the mechanical components of the unit. Must be a defect. Can the dealer use that for warranty? (assuming you're under 60,000 miles)
I was all set to say that it was probably just the solenoid that "engages" the cog, and the "whrrrrrr" noise was a perfectly good starter motor spinning the cog without being engaged with the flywheel... ...but then I saw the pic, of course. Nevermind.
