hey all, its been gettign warmer and warmer every day, and it also seems liek my car is to tall. however i have noticed that winter has taken its toll on the roads. i am getting ready to slam my car. just wanna make sure no more snows coming. some of the new bumps that have emerged make me nervous about my oil pan, and rear diff. i looked into primitive engineering under body armor. however its alittle pricey. has anyone made their own skid plates? i want a front plate for sure, and will probbaly order the raer diff plate from primitive. i want it strong enough so i dont have to worry about losing bits and peices fo my oil pan (or the whole thing for that matter. i know some one that had this happen). ideas are welcome!

http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/skid.htm That's what he was talking about in his original post. He makes quality stuff. He has a few options available, even up to the $500 carbon/kevlar plating. If you're keeping it on the street you'll likely only need the thinner aluminum plating.
how well would that plating hold up (testimonials please) against say a speed bump, or similiar road hazards. would it properly protect my oil pan if if i bottomed out my car? final goal = preserve oil pan

Design is also a factor. I should be designed to slide over and deflect hazards.
PE's stuff deflects boulders and stumps pretty well. Maybe Mark Utecht will give his $0.02 regarding the issue, he's probably more an expert with this kind of thing than any of us. Brett should have a pretty good idea too.
I don't know what to do with a GC8 but on the GD cars, a properly sized flat piece of 1/4 inch 6061 aluminum with five correctly placed bolt holes is a bolt on. It couldn't be easier. The GC8s may or may not have the same attachment options. The Primitive stuff is a good option if you don't want to do any cutting, drilling or measuring. I don't know what Paul wants for his stuff but the last time I bought skid plate material, I spent 50.00 on just the raw aluminum. Mark
Paul does indeed know his stuff! I have crewed for him on more than one occasion and have seen the damage that can be done... He considers this abuse when he sells a new product and will not sell something that will not hold up (I have also bought numerous parts from him). Tell him Christian sent you and he'll treat you well.
