I have a 2005 legacy gt all stock. I'm looking for simple small inexpensive mods for my car. One mod I have interest in is finding a way to keep my boost at higher rev's. Not looking to mess with the computer or spend a grip load of dough. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

boost is going to taper, especially with the stock turbo
you can install a catless uppipe (if you haven't)

Uh, the best result for your money is to "mess with the computer."

Get a custom stage 1 tune and get REAL results. :)

    He's right.

'04 WRX with stock td04 turbo, Stage 1 Bullwinkle tune. This just messes with the ECU with no other engine or exhaust mods. It got me around 25 extra hp, AND my boost goes all the way to the red line. The first couple freeway entrances I took it on I hit the fuel cut before I was out of boost, 'cause I was used to using the boost taper as a shift indicator... I'm planning to go Stage 2 or similar this summer, though.

Ditto. The one thing you "don't want to do" is the one thing you should be doing.

As a former LGT owner I would recommend a simple stage setup. We have done a few of them here at RS motors with great results.

A catless uppipe, cat less downpipe, K&N air filter for the stock air box, and a proper tune will net you quite a big increase in power.

Tuning would benefit your car in the long run. You should think about it. It will give you more power than any other mods. Except for new turbo of course

+1 to this. This is the way to do it.

Slightly OT does anyone know when the stock LGT air box runs out of steam? I know the WRX/STi ones are good to like 300hp-ish.

Same as all the other 32bit ECUs. The MAF only reads up to 5 volts, which is right around 350 WHP on a dynojet.

EDIT: There some ecu tweaks to be done to get the MAV to read past 4.7v (300 g/s limit), but the actual MAF reads to 5v.

^^^ the LGT will be a bit higher in g/s than the WRX/STi since it is a bit larger in diameter.

Subaru was kind enough to include a big MAF air box. The stock WRX/STi air box is 65mm, the LGT airbox is 70mm. So anything WRX is not relevant when it comes to MAF voltage in a LGT.

Ahh, good info that I didn't know. Still a 5v MAFv limit, but that should correspond to a significantly higher WHP limit.
