Other than the Ice Event last weekend (which was awesome) I really haven't had much time to play with the Rex in the snow... Anyone look at the radar lately? I've had about 20 parking lots scouted out around the metro for a while now, all conveniently saved on my iPhone in Google Maps. Add to this the fact that it's Sunday and most will be empty and I see lots of gas being burnt later today! Anyone else have snow plans?
Yeah, getting up at 5:00 AM on Monday and blowing the driveway. Snow is greatly overrated. And, in for the inevitable automotive carnage.
Spent a few hours in the car earlier and had a blast. No driveway for me to shovel so it's all just fun. May head back out when it quiets down later. Let me know if anyone lives in Uptown/SW Mpls.
it is nice out! i don't have a subaru yet, but the pilot was fun with the VSA turned off...maybe this coming saturday.....
Oh man, I wish sometimes that I had a Subie...I would have had a lot less trouble getting home tonight! White out conditions---had an adventure on the way home--read my story!
Seventeen inches in Eden Prairie (according to channels 5 and 9 both). I ain't blowing my way down to the corner, nor am I going to try to drive through it. AWD and snow tires are trumped by lack of ground clearance.
My impreza dominated last night, but the trib needs an oil change, so I drove that today, which also did very well.
I got stuck with my WRX when we got 18" in Shakopee in December. I was fine all day driving to work and back but ended up with my 4 wheels off the ground in the snow bank.
I almost got stuck in my STI. ground clearance was a bitch. I looked back and it looked like i had a plow on the front. I had to shovel snow out of my garage after pushing a bunch of it in.
i had 2 rock mine a little to get out of my parking spot at work even in full lock. rce yellows plus over a foot of snow not a good combo lol once i got moving it plowed through it fine was just the getting going part that sucked. pulled 2 people out of the parking gurage at my apartment so they could try n drive to work haha
This morning my Wife asked if I was going to drive my truck to work. I simply replied, "Now why would I do a thing like that." She didn't think I'd make it out of our driveway, but the STI once again prooved her wrong!
Eden Prairie's plow (note singular) must have broke down. I decided to cut a path to the corner (500 to 600 foot) with the Outback first and then went with the Legacy. I was very impressed with the all seasons on the Outback. The ride to the corner was more worrisome with the GT on snows.
The wagon plowed through everything today including a few stop signs. Thats the biggest problem i see with running a summer oriented "allseason" on subarus.
^^ Lulz, I thought it was okay for car enthusiasts on forums to have poor grammar and horrible spelling .hnoes:hnoes:hnoes:
Interesting drive home Sunday night from Brainerd. Went from no snow on the ground to make-your-own lane on 94. Wouldn't have been too bad, except for the full car load of girlfriend and dogs, and other people not having the same capabilities. If it wasn't for that, I almost wanted to have some shenanigans on the freeway since the 3 right lanes just before Maple Grove were virtually untouched. I'd have to tell the officer that I was still going in sort-of a straight line.
I had a great time in the snow (think 12 year old), did some Good Samaritan work and even offered to give a stuck cop car a tow, although he turned it down
Dispite the small amount of snow we got, I've found several parking lots to be just perfect for sideways antics. If anyone wants to meet up for some fun, PM me. I'll be out rolling around. In the SE Metro now (6:00 PM) but headed back to the city in a bit.
