I need to have my plugs changed, so I called morries subaru in BP and they told me oem for an 05 sti was NGK double platinums at $25.00 a piece. Can I just go to autozone and get double platinums there? Or are there any shops on herat that have a alternative? I have to do this in the next couple days. Car is an 05 sti, thanks. I called pepboys and they have Champion brand double platinum for 3.99 a piece. Is ngk subaru brand really that much better?
I respect your opinion and I will probably grab them from Morries Minnetonka, but can it really make a difference between Bosch or Champion and NGK. As long as they are double platinum.
NGK. Run them. Or don't run them. But don't bitch when you're having misfires, fouling, and other fun occurences.
I made the mistake of running Bosch Platinum +4s in my old 99 RS. After about 25k it started to run like absolute crap.
Simple NGK plats for the win. I don't know what the double-platinum is. Splitfire-type thing? You don't need it. You'll get better spark and performance from coppers but you have to replace them more often. With how much of a pain changing plugs is with the boxer then plats are often a good bet. I only ran coppers in my turbo RS and changed every 5k (every other oil change). I do use plats in the LGT but once it goes Stage 2 it's getting copper.
