when was that? After MN passed the law regarding 100MPH you lose your license?

    :run::bowrofl:

Did he use a radar gun or he just followed you to judge your speed?
In any case, go to the court as everyone else suggested.
Also, as Eric mentioned, maybe a bit of community service might get the fine reduced?

If what Erik and I discussed in the chatroom is true, I'd bypass the community service and pay the fine. Unless you want to write 'fluffer' on your resume.

Maybe absurd, but has anyone ever heard of law enforcement using sites like this to help identify/track down/get insider information on alleged 'street racers'? As an example....Pulling over someone for a traffic violation and noticing a big MNsubaru sticker maybe?

I know we don't support anything illegal on this site, but an outsider wouldn't know that until they started 'trolling' around.

    just wondering....

There is no choice, its either jail time or community service, in my case atleast.

I got a 56 in a 30 when I was in highschool. first time driving my mom's legacy, pulled on where there wasn't a speed limit sign. I thought it was 45-50.....it wasn't. The cop was on a big ego trip, and gave me a huge lecture, I'm sure he was convinced that I thought I was above the law, and didn't have to follow any rules, etc. etc.

anyway, enought on the rant about orono cops....

he checked the 'unsafe conditions' box (bull#$#@) which meant I had to go to court. So I did, I met with the prosecuter, and I told him what happened, and we arranged for me to go on probation (not on my record unless I got another within a year), and cut the fine from $140 to $70. not bad for almost 2x......:hs:

ROFL, you still call it 'jail time.' Keep in mind, folks, this isn't incarceration...jail time is time spent at the jail, but he isn't necessarily locked up. wink wink.

Well i got a ticket of 99 in a 65 going down hwy 10. Just where it splits to go to 35 or 610. Cop was going to 610, i passed him going to 35. Ooops. The n he asked me why i was in such a rush. I said, i was going snowboarding and that the hill was only open for another 2 hours so if he could just get me the ticket that would be great. :) he didn't like that. $479 i think.

There were huge lawsuits by the locals when the highway was proposed. Some of th eareas around are noted as historical. The settlement was for the highway to be a parkway with lower speeds and not allow trucks over a certain weight to reduce noice and ipact on the neighborhoods along the highway.

I was stopped doign 50 in a 35 in Golden Valley a number of years back, the ticket was $125.00. Other than that (knock on wood) I have been lucky.

I got one in my rx3 back in OZ.... my friends and I had just finished doing high speed runs on the way to SYdney...

speed limit was 110kph... we were doing over 140mph.... 200ish kph??

I was just coasting down from that speed when he got me... problem was I was doing what I thought was 117 kph... another car was coming up from behind me and he siad if I hadnt have pulled out he would off gotten them doing 140kph or something but got me doing 127... then an hour later all 3 cars got chased down by cops for NO reason and given defect notices etc.. so a weekend for car show cost me $220 / 2 fines before I even arrived...

but I spent another $500 on beer the next 2 days.. hmmmm glad those days are gone...

well, just got back from the old dakota county courthouse, adn got a sort of "deal"

    Same or similar, $500 fine.

dammit, the fine actually got higher. but at least it wont go on my record if I stay ticket free for antoher year. The judge let off a hit and run driver, 2 people speeding with no insurace who were going faster than me (one was 95 mph in a 50!) because they were teenagers. He then proceeded to throw the book at me. He wasn't happy by the time he got to me after he had just sentenced two crackheads to jail.

And by the way, apparently getting pulled over with brass knuckles, no driver's license, no insurance and going 20 over the limit while on probation is still not as bad as going 35mph over the speed limit. Or doing a hit and run with no license and insurance... goddamn I hate the way the justice system works.
