Seen a few of these posts. Well Saturday was the day, had a box full of shiney new Prodrive springs and a jacked up Suby. Everything went well and I had high hopes untill it came to getting them dang 19mm strut bolts off. Tried PB Blaster and a mix of bars over wrenches and so on and so forth, even busted one ratchet. Any one know if an official breaker bar would do the trick or should I just resort to air tools to get it done easier and quicker? Anyone willing to help a guy out with a spring swap, I do have spring compressors. I'm in Maple grove but of course would be willing to drive to where the help is. Also if you have any suggestions on getting them bolts off i'd love to hear it. At least I stoppped before something went horribly wrong. My friend got my back wheels cleaned front and back so something got done. Then after a few beers my back up lights are now tinted with some cheapie house tint, looks good though. Thanks all
Heh. I broke three sockets trying to get my rear struts off. In the end it took two people, an 18inch breaker bar with a craftsman impact socket, a crowbar and a good 19mm wrench. I only had one bolt that was that hard though, the fronts I could get off with my impact, the rest of the rears came off with the breaker bar. Air tools are nice, but you'll need some serious power to get the rear bolts off, a 250ft/lb impact won't do it, you'd probably want either a 500 or 1000ft/lb impact. Good luck. Joel
sounds good Thanks for the input guys, looks like i'll be hitting up the harware store for a breaker bar and an impact socket. I've had PB blaster soaking into it for the past couple days so hopefully that did something as well. I'll keep you guys posted as to my progress or lack of.
torque settings Does anyone have the torque settings for an 02 wrx? All torque settings dealing with a spring swap? Thanks in advance
