I have a 1997 Legacy GT, and intermittently when I leave a stop-in a hurry- my car kind of sputters and almost stalls...I have a check engine light on and I can't remember the code but it's for the EGR valve. That I've fixed before by blowing air through all the little tubes and cleaning them, could that have anything to do with it? It has 226k on it so is my baby just getting old and temperamental or can I fix it easily? Any input is AWESOME, thanks.

most auto parts stores have a engine scanner u can use for free.
is the stop in a hurry the only time this happends. can u get it to sputter. if ur in neutral and u slam the race quickly let go of the gas then slam the gas again?

That's the part that is making it hard to figure out what it is, it usually happens only once a day and I try to recreate the situation and it never does it again. I'll stop out at my dad's shop today to check the code again

So I ran the code and it was P0400- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction, did a little checking and it seems like this could maybe be the problem? Not 100%.

Yes that is the problem. Dirty ass EGR valve, or a shot egr valve.

I'm thinking shot, I've cleaned the lines with compressed air like 6 times since the light came on. So i'm probably gonna replace it now. Thanks guys!
