I've noticed my clutch is squeaking not the brakes. From a dead stop into first gear it has a pulsing squeak until I let off the clutch and engaged 1st gear then shifts without a squeak through the rest of the gears. Any idea what is going on? What a fix might be?

I have an 02 wrx so the usual shudder when cold and no updates have been done as far as I know being that I got the car at 23,000 miles.

    Thanks in advance

On a good note, my prodrive springs will be ordered today! Anyone available to help with an install that has done this before? I'm located in Maple Grove area

A pulsing squeak sounds like the throwout bearing. I think you can get creative and lube the throwout bearing without taking the clutch out. I remember reading about someone using a straw to get some lube down onto it, but I don't remember where I saw that.

Otherwise, my old clutch used to squeal if I slipped it too much, like when I would take off uphill from a dead stop. But that was more of a steady squeal, not a squeak, and no pulsing. After changing my clutch that doesn't happen anymore.

    clutch

Thanks for the post up, i'll look into that and see if I can't locate and lube that point. I'd rather not even think about clutchs being that i'm only at a whopping 34,000 miles at the moment.

guess I should also do a search at nasioc.com

So is it just one squeek? like you push in the clutch and it makes the noise? Or is it when you have the clucth pedal all the way at the floor it is squeeking all the time while the pedal is engaged.

It could be either the throw out bearing or the clutch pivot. The bearing cannot be serviced in the car the tranny would need to be removed. If it is the other squeek yes it can be lubed up by pulling off the I/C

    multiple squeaks

Nope, it is multiple squeaks as if you had a warped rotor. It will pulse a squeak when moving and transitioning from a dead stop until first gear is fully engadged and the clutch is fully released then i'm on my way and no more squeak. No squeak going into 2nd as far as I could tell.

Hell maybe I do have a warped rotor, gotta bring her in I guess.

If it's the throwout bearing you should be able to reproduce the squeak at a stop with the trans in neutral. Just slowly push the clutch pedal down and slowly let it up and listen for the squeak. And the pulsing would track with engine RPM if it's the bearing, brake rotor squeak would track with vehicle speed.
