Check the balance on the wheel.

Or maybe you have some snow stuck on the wheel. Go to a carwash and spray it off.

    ^Ditto

either your alingment is off REALLY bad. or maybe you curbed a wheel havin too much fun... you might try having your wheels re-balanced.

I say check your rotors and everything in your wheel area to make sure nothing is getting stuck in there. If it continues to wobble I would say do an eyeball alignment, stand at the back of your car and look down the side of your wheels? everything look the same? If that aint it check your wheel weights to make sure they are balance. If it isn't any of the above more please give more details

The reason I suggest to look around the wheels is because my steering wheel use to shake real bad at certain speeds and it was because there was a rock stuck somewhere it shouldn't have been

What is the condition of the tires? IIRC the last time I saw your car they were bald?

^didn't think about that...Tires can definately paly a factor too...especially on a Subaru when it doesn't have even tread

    1) wheel out of balance/tire bulging due to wear etc.
    2) bent rim leading to ^

Throw the front end on jack stands or a lift and spin the wheels, you should be able to see whats wrong if it's wheel/tire related

bikerboy: i just replace the front tires, so its not bald.

its not shaking really bad, its just a little bit, once over 30-40(im guessing) didnt pay attention to the speed , there is no shake , and there is no shake while braking .....rotor looks fine to me , but im gonna replace the pads soon, i dont think the pads make the steering wheel shakes right?? the steering shakes after i got stuck in snow lol, Subaie got stucks? what a shame hahahhaa

Either way, get your balanced checked. That is the first thing to do everytime when you get a wheel wobble.

tire balance means the air pressure of the wheel, or i have to go to a shop and do it ...

no, around the outer edges of the rims are small lead weights that put in place to counter balance the imperfections in the rims and in the tires. As the tires wear down their balance gradually changes over time.

It does need to go into a shop. WalMart does a balance for about $5 a tire. Otheer places do a similar thing. Take it where you like...expect to pay though. But the vehicle will drive oh so smooth afterwards. I rotate and balance my tires every 6-700 miles.

are you joking? 6-700 miles? i would say 6000-7000 miles would be more practacal. There is no way i am brining my rims/tires in to get balanced every other week

How bad did you get stuck? and was there an impact on getting stuck? It could have something to do with unmatched front and rear tires and the fact that the fronts are new.

also, it probably isn't the balance of the tires/rims becuase if they are off you will notice more shaking at higher speeds, not it becoming less over 40 mph.

btw, if you haven't realized this yet, never never never listen to general mechanics about subaru advice. or at least consult us too with there opinion.

get an alignment for sure once you get your strut replaced.

^ yea...im still waiting for my AGX struts, but need to get springs tho ...lol .

well ...i stucked in snow, like the car wont move at all but i dont think there was any impact ...so i tried go backand forth , thats how i got out from stucking , and once, my car was sliding on the Highway because of the stupid snow between lands and lanes, mayeb thats how i messed up the tires..., well i might jsut go get my tires rotate and balance. 1st . I checked the tires air pressure, after i blanced the air pressure, the steering wheel still shake ..so yea .

If you got stuck in the snow, and then your car started shaking...I would guess that you need to go to the car wash and blast any snow/ice out of your rims. It will make the steering wheel shake fiercly if its too bad. And, I may be wrong because generally when you get snow packed in the rims the car shakes worse the faster you go!:dunno: Just thought I would throw it in there!

alignment has nothing to do with an out of balance wheel... unless tire wear is considered...

bent rim, out of balance tire/rim, loose front end parts...

My brother rotated the tires wrong on my mom's Legacy abd it got a wobble. Put them back in the right place and they were fine. Figured that out after an alignment and balance.

these days it's rare that a tire seperates through age. Typically people wear them out before they get to that stage.

Bad batch can be quite common. It doesn't mean that you have brought a bad type of tire. More that it was a bad batch. It can happen. I typically run Tripltread Assurances. I'm on my third set now (between several cars) and I've gotten a bad tire. Can you make me swap tires? Not a chance in hell.

I had a tire separate on my last car. Man, that was a weird feeling. Only from about 10-25mph it would just buck around.
