Thought you guys would like to see! Taking an idea from a buddy of mine, I decided to spend a Saturday building a stereo cooler for trips tailgating/apple river/camping/summer. Whats better then listening to some tunes while drinking beer(s)! Supplies Used: -Igloo 60qt Ice Cube Cooler -2 6" Kenwood Marine Speakers -Eclipse CD5444 headunit -Lawn and Tractor battery -10amp inline fuse -Rocker switch -3/8 poly carb used as divider/cd headunit mounting surface -Silicon -Cardboard for creating templates, (templates are your friends!) -The typical wire and wiring supplies 1. Started off by deciding how the split between the dry side/wet side was going to work out, where the speakers were going to be located... ect... 2. Used the provided template to mark and cutout the holes needed for the speakers. 3. Cut the polycarb divider to fit as snug as possible, used strips along the side and bottom to help hold the divider solid. 4. Cut the polycarb mounting surface/lid. 5. Wired all the electronics up, mounted the rocker switch in the lid and enjoyed the tunes! 1/2 cooler.... 1/2 stereo! It sounds really good, but not great. Still trying to figure out why the speakers are a little scratchy..
I see room for just enough beer to get you to the point of wondering why you filled the other half of a perfectly good cooler with ****ty music and then tearing out the electronics and going to the liquor store to buy more beer.
Cool idea and nice execution. I don't know if I like the thought of reducing the beer capacity for the sake of having music. Double the beer and give me silence and I'd be just fine.
You guys have a good point, but remember its a 60qt cooler. It can fit a case of beer on the wet side... and if i dont share...
