I think I need some different pads on my 2004 STI, i'm not exactly sure as to whats on it now as they were on it when I bought the car, but I know they're aftermarket slotted rotors and different pads. The problem with them is they constantly cover the wheels with brake dust, and if I don't wash the wheels every day the brakes squeak really bad. The car stops awesome but I can't handle the squeaking any more. I'm assuming they're just really aggressive pads or something, so i'm just looking to tone them down a bit. I don't do any autocrossing or anything like that, this is just my dd/winter car. Someone point me in the right direction here...

It sounds like you currently have what I have.... HAWK HP+'s .... they work great on the track, but they suck for DD. Tons of brake dust and lots of squeaking. Hawk does make a HPS pad that a lot of people on here run. No noise, less brake dust (some say better than OEM). It doesn't have the same track ability, but we don't know what your goals with the car are. Otherwise stoptech seems to be popular. Make some people with these will speak up.

Just for some extra info to try an help you out, what do you do with your car?
    Street - DD?
    AutoX?
    Track?

Once you find your pad, hit up Josh @ Import Image Racing. He always has the best prices and will beat anyone else out there if you find lower.

I've run both HP+ and Stoptech Ceramic pads. I use Stoptech's for DD and the HP+ are used for track duty only. The Stoptech's still produce dust, but nothing to the tune of the Hawks. I would recommend them for DD usage anyday.

I bought my Stoptech's from Turn-In-Concepts for $100 (all four corners), so they're also cheap.

My goal for the car is to not have squeaky brakes haha, but seriously it's just a dd and my winter car so I don't need anything aggressive. I think the prior owner built the car with autocross in mind based on what mods it had. Aggressive brakes, light weight wheels (some sort of enkies with two valve stems)

I have never owned them, but sounds like Stop Tech might not be a bad move for you. They are cheaper than the HPS pads and people seem to like them.

I've been running Stop Tech Street Performance pads for a couple of years. I'm extremely happy with the performance, both as a daily and for autocross. I highly recommend them.
Dusting is not too bad, stopping is much better than my stock WRX pads, a little bit of squealing from the rears sometimes.

I also have StopTech Street. They feel great compared to stock. Tiny bit more dust than stock but not bad. No squeaking from mine at all. Great for street and light track. People seem to like them a lot more than the HPS (which many people strongly dislike).

I'm not sure what's on it now, the thing stops on a dime but they just squeak really bad. The weird thing is though they don't squeak till I'm almost stopped, but when they finally do squeak it sounds like Freddy Krueger running his hands down a chalk board.

Just did my pads last month. After research, I went with Stoptech Street for $90 (fronts only) from MAP. I'm sure you cant find better deals online though. A cheap set for daily would be Duralast Gold CMax but some NASIOCs report squeals from them.
