I have an 04 sedan and noticed what seems to be more flex in my drivetrain and wondering if people feel the STI mounts are worth it. I've been looking at the pitch, engine, and tranny mounts.

    What does everyone think?

not sure about pitch, but I have the others and they really stiffen it up and made it just feel more tight. before one of the mounts was out and my headers were rubbing on the subframe so I had to get one and figure why not upgrade?

I have them, but I don't know how they feel since I have yet to put the engine back in the car.

I have this full set at home waiting to be installed. Of course, that doesn't help you right now. So maybe I should just go and crawl back under my rock.

I notice that in my car it does a lot of that juddering in stop and go traffic. I'm hoping these will take care of that.

I found that these parts were a great way to spend my Subie Bucks.

it will make the "juddering" more noticible :)

I don't think so. The juddering is the engine moving back and forth. It'll move less with these.

I think what he is trying to say is that it will transfer more engine and transmission vibration to the frame, and thus the interior of the car.

That's not the juddering I'm talking about. It's that transition from the engine driving the car to the car driving the engine at really low speeds. Maybe it doesn't happen so much on the newer cars.

I'm also going for the tranny subframe bushings, and both sets of rear diff bushings just to round things out.

When I installed the Tranny mount on my old RS and the FXT, both times I've noticed my shifting precision has increased and isn't as soft. The Tranny mount is a very good upgrade and I didn't notice any added vibrations or noise associated with the Group N tranny mount.

The engine mounts, on the other hand, were installed after my tranny mount and I noticed an increased vibration into the cabin area. It's not bad but its very noticable. You can feel the NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) on the seat you sit on and the steering wheel you hold on. I don't think it affected my CD player, but sometimes when you have change in your car, you can her them clicking. Performance-wise, they slightly increase your throttle response and other things that they're known for. I did not install them on my FXT this time around because I like comfort too.

    Tranny=oK
    Engine=up to yoU

    Wow, thanks for the input!!!

I think I'll try the tranny first and then engine. I personally couldn't care if the interior noise and vibrations get louder. heck, it's already rediculious with my exhaust so what's a little more.

I have done the transmisstion mount on my WRX and did notice the difference, but didnt think it was much benefit. I have dont it on my other car where I took my motor mounts out and injected urathane into the gaps and baked them for several hours. The difference is more engine transfer. This can be a good thing if your smooth with the throtle and if not it can be uncomforable for your passengers. As far as whats in the STI, its plenty stiff, but not to where it is uncomfortable. So I would expect the same if you were to put them into a WRX. Enjoy!

I have the tranny mount, shifter bushings, rear diff crossmember bushings and rear diff bushings installed, yes they make a HUGE difference... cant wait to put my tranny crossmember bushings in, and I'm ordering the motor mounts/pitch mounts as well.

I installed the Cusco engine and tranny mounts, they are much stiffer than the STI mounts and made a huge difference in both the NVH and driving feel. The shifting is much more precise and shuddering from a start is pretty much non existent when it used to be horrible with the stock WRX mounts that were in the car. I think the STI mounts would be a great compromise between NVH and performance.

Either use subaru bucks at a dealership or check vendors on Nasioc for the best deal. Even better- call someone and offer them $40 less than their listed price. That's how I got my Cusco mounts.

King of Parts on clubwrx had the group N engine mounts and the pitch stop together for 159 shipped I believe, thats the lowest price I've ever seen.

Just got these installed this weekend along with a few other odds and ends (many thanks to speedyham for all the help). The car is way better. It sets off from a standing start like a rabbit with its bum on fire. And when it starts up, the whole car doesn't waggle from side to side.

Anyone else spot that the engine mounts have little Bridgestone logos embossed on them ?

i heard that the mounts should be installed as a set engine and tranny. cuase by doing one first ie tranny. the engine is moving the same amount bu he tranny is so it could cuase issues cuase umm, trannys arnt suppose to flex.

another interesting idea would be to skip the group N pitch stop and go to a stonger one such as this one. http://www.rs25.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60725

    ^^I've never heard that.

I see those types of pitch stops all over ebay. But don't you want a little flex? Or are the inserts rubber?

^ that mount has cast urethane bushings so it flexs alittle.

every bit of flex is power that isnt reaching the ground. so pwer wise stiffer = better. but i bet you would notice some more rattling in your dash lol.

    Hmm, what did we do:

    Grp N Engine Mounts
    Grp N Pitch Stopper
    Grp N Tranny Mount
    Whiteline Tranny Crossmember Bushings
    Kartboy Front Shifter Bushing
    Kartboy Rear Shifter Bushing
(TiC Pivot Bushing was already installed late last year)
    Whiteline Front Diff Mount Bushings
4x Kartboy Exhaust Hangers (in red, no less) (these would NOT have gone on were it not for Sean's bloody minded persistence)

We tried to do the rear diff mount bushings, too, but ran out of time. We also need to find a better way to install them, as the method we had sucked.

Turns out my pitch stopper had a bolt missing, so I've effectively gone from no pitch stopper to the Grp N one. Yikes.

And right now the car is sitting in Jeff's shop having some other goodies installed. Should be a major difference in the handling for Midway on Sunday.

    Bye for now,
    Stuart.

I saw this ad a few days after I ordered my Grp N one. If I'd seen it beforehand, I would have been severely tempted, especially since there's not all that much difference in the price.

i actually just installed a pair... i love them! well worth the 100 bucks. if you don't mind the slight discomfort of a rock hard front end... better drivetrain response is the biggest difference i've noticed. way fun around corners
