I have an 02 wrx, and am planning on some suspension here pretty soon. Would an 04 complete sti setup "springs and struts" mount up or not? and if so, would it be an improvement in handling? Tim
In case you are getting mounts too, keep in mind that the 02-03 rear top hats and 04+ rear top hats are different.
are the top hats able to be switched? here is the link to the auction, maybe that will be more helpful http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...ategory=33591&item=7987470488&sspagename=WDVW
yes you can switch top hats, but its not going to maintain the same rear strut geometry. You're much better off getting something from a version 7 STi rather than a version 8. The only difference is that the ver8 was sold in the usa so it's easier to get. Also: since those are orange They look like jdm ones. You will absolutely have to check all the spring/top mounts to make sure exactly what they are, there is absolutely no other way to do it. If youget mismatched sets etc (common) theyre nto worth buying and are in fact bad for the car. also, the fact that the ad says coilovers (not sold by STi) and shows JDM struts but assumes they're coming off a USDM car is a big warning sign. I wouldn't buy takeoffs from anyone except a very well known reseller due to wear issues. If one or more of those struts in dead, you're looking a a $300 replacement strut. I don't know if an ebayer is going to replace that, but IAperformance FedExed me one when mine went out, for free. ALL of the info you need is in this thread. its is very long. You will need to get the pictures of the strut markings from the person selling them to figure out which ones they are, and there are quite a lot of them. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361244&highlight=version+spec Some reputable takeoff resellers: http://www.jdmpartstx.com/ http://www.iaperformance.com/ you will have to call ia to ask what they have in the shop though.
I love my Spec C RA's but perhaps in a year i will be switching the springs to espelir gt's to get a bit more stiff. I dunno how well the spec C stuff works on WRX's since it was actually designed for lighter weight cars, but i'm sure it works out prety good since its a matter of about 300lbs which isnt too extreme.
I didnt measure but about the same as the eibahs, plus about 3/4in raised in front due to camber plates. Basically, it sits at about where the suspension should sit. Or at least, as Makinen, Arai and Subaru designed it.
