I bought a sti tmic off a guy on nasioc and have 2 questions. If I put it on before the v7 splitter will it affect anything or will I just not get full advantage of the IC? There was also a bit of oil film in the IC should i just hose it down in break clean and toss it in or is there a better way to clean it?

I ran an STi top mount on my 02 with a 2.0 and a 16G with no splitter for quite a while. I never actually noticed ant degradation in performance or spool time. I'm sure if I would have used equipment to monitor with and without a splitter there would have been differences. I would say you're gonna be fine. Also hot tank the IC.

It's actually quite important that you have a splitter that seals against your TMIC. It has been proven that intake charge temp is strongly impacted by removing the splitter or having the incorrect one for your application.

With that said, you're not going to ruin anything by putting on the TMIC without the splitter, although you also won't see much of a benefit from it either. My take -- if you're going to do it, do it right.
