stock radio help

could someon tellme what each stock wire color is? im trying to splice my deck into the factory harness, but cant seem to find the info anywhere, thanks, my car is a 93 legacy

 

did you cut the factory harness out?

 

why in the crap wouldnt you get a wiring harness for your deck...they are like 4 dollars :roll:

 

^ +1 wiring harnesses make the job a ton easier.

 

^ +1000 I agree even at best buy they are 16 but still worth it

 

I have the Haynes manual for the Subaru Legacy at home. I know it has the wiring schematics in the back few pages. When I get home tonight I'll see if it shows what colors do what for the radio.

I have the .pdf for the 04 wrx but I don't know about posting it off the tech cd so who wants it e-mailed to them?

 

This is listed as the wires for a "Typical audio system" out of the haynes subaru manual. ymmv.

blk - ground
blu/red - hot at all times
yel/red - hot in accessory and run
blk/grn or grn/org - power antenna
yel/blu and grn - interior lights
wht/red and red/blk - left rear speaker
red/wht and blu/yel - right rear speaker
brn/wht and grn - left front speaker
wht/blk and red/yel - right front speaker

There's a wiring diagram on Ravensblade for the Impreza(may be the same for Legacy) that I used on my Forester:

*there's two on the site, one from 93 to 01 and the second for 02 on. The above is the 93 to 01, probably the same as yours.

Harness or no harness...that's up to you. I just cut all mine and used crimp connectors to wire in my new deck. Sure a wiring harness is easier, but where's the fun in that?
