Hey all. Question about stock suspension, 04 Sti. Looking at the rear of my car it looks uneven, so I measured to the fenders at all 4 corners, (after checking tire pressure) and I came up with 26" at both front sides, and 25 3/8" for the rear on the drivers side, and 25 5/8" on the rear passengers side. Is that normal? I have around 74k on the car, but I'm not sure if the suspension is original or not. (I would guess it is though)

I do beleive that is normal. I have an '04 and there appears to be more fender gap in front also, but that doesn't neccesarily mean the car itself is uneven. Pretty sure it is this way for a reason (not sure why). Also, I beleive most aftermarket springs drop the front a bit more than the rear to even out the look.

Um, he's talking about the car being uneven from SIDE TO SIDE in the rear. I know exactly what he's talking about since petis' car is all droopy on one side like that also.

Every WRX/STi will have more fender gap in the front when compared to the rear -- that doesn't mean that the car sits higher in the front, it is actually just from the fender having a higher cutout so the front wheels have room to turn when taking corners.

Have any of you had your rear suspension go out on you? My Rear suspension seems to be clicking in the rear passenger side. Have any of you experienced that?

Um, I thought his concern was with both, but had nothing to contribute about the side-to-side part, so I didn't :)

Yeah, side to side in the rear is the concern, guess I should have been more clear. I was actually surprised that it wasn't more difference, seeing as I noticed it from a distance. So suspension? or are there other things that effect height?

It is very common for the rear struts to go bad very quickly on the STi.

I guess I never looked that close....1/4" Basically, something isn't supporting its "weight" (pun intended) or something is sticking (not allowing it to droop). I my situation, there was something sticking (strut) and it was worse on the passenger side, too. However, like I said, I didn't look for a ride height difference when I had all my bad struts so that may be coincedental....

true that. I've taking out a few sti struts out of member cars due to that same issue. In fact, I have a set of bunk sti rears sitting in my garage right now.

yea, my 04 sti has different height in the back also. the driver side seems to be lower than the passenger. also sti struts go bad easily, my went out already. i have just replaced them with some rebuilt struts. they dont clunk anymore after the new rebuilt struts. you can maybe find some off nasioc. i think the member i bought it off was ten80. i bought my two rebuilt strut for around $140 or $150 i dont remember.

So again I'm looking at replacing something. I think this comes out of "car repair fund" and not "fun money"
