I am in need of a set of struts for my 04 STI. My main concern is keeping a somewhat comfortable ride and not breaking the bank. Used low mile takeoffs seem like a good option, except I don't want them to clunk, so I am trying to decide on an aftermarket set. So far I have found the Tokico d specs and the Koni inserts in wrx housings. Does anyone have some input on if these will be livable for a daily driver?

The car also has stock springs and Hotchkis sway bars front and back with whiteline end links in the back. Thanks for your input.

Anyone running the D-specs with stock STI springs out there that can comment on the ride quality? Thanks!

this was hands down the best combo I ever used. Tall dan has my old set-up now, I hear he likes them too.

edit, I've had 6 different strut set-ups on my sti. nothing better than dspecs for daily driving

I am on a '04 WRX. I think '04 STI springs, for sure D-specs, and group n mounts. Improvement is sporty for sure. I actually have just a tad bit of oversteer with a 3.5 setting in front and 4.5 in the back adjustment on the shocks. Completely different then stock. Don't notice any real ride difference during my daily commute. Your results may vary with a STI. This setup with some grippy tires makes me very happy.

I am fighting a bit of a clunk in the back over bumps like a railroad track. Could be my lack of mechanical skills but the stock nuts on the rear struts seem to loosen up. Loud exhaust, windows down and turning the stereo up seems to resolve the issue.

I have done it twice with the spacers in. It is only on the side with the original nut from Tokico. I'm going to replace it next time I do an adjustment.

I've got an 04wrx with d-specs and 04 STI springs, front group N mounts, and front & rear sway + endlinks. The ride is very friendly for how nice the cornering and stability is. It is a little rough on some of our worst roads in MN, but if your city/commute has normal, crater free roads you will love the set up for a daily driver. (I only have mine at 5 tffs in both front and rear)
