Who are people going to locally for strut installation these days? Normally I'd go the Morrie's route, but my understanding is that strut replacement is quoted around 2 hours per strut (2 hours per strut x 4 struts x $120 per hour = $960.00), while I'm hearing that it's usually about a 2 hour job in total.

Given the disparity, I'm looking for a bit more cost-conscious option. Any suggestions?

(FWIW, I've already got the parts - Prodrive 02-03 WRX springs, and KYB AGX struts.)

Struts are actually quite easy to do yourself if you have a place to do the work.

I am riding on that combination on our 03. Been very happy with it...and as a matter of fact scuba was on hand for that install.

I had my rear struts replaced at Morrie's. I was desperate so i shelled out the $600. They did a good job and took about 3 hours. Hurray for supporting the locals :)

Thanks everyone for the responses! Believe me, I'm all for supporting a local business, and Morrie's of Minnetonka (props to Brian, Ben and Mike) has been very good to me. But, I also realize that they're slaves to what Subaru mandates for repair times, and unfortunately until the IT job market picks up a bit more I need to be cost-conscious with larger (cost) projects like this one.

I'd much rather do it myself on a nice 75 degree day, but since we won't be having any of those for a few months.... ;)

I'm now in communication with Scuba Steve - he helped me with a set of coil-overs and a trunk lid swap a couple of winters ago, so he knows me.

Thanks again! I'm looking forward to the new setup....

I'll through out the suggestion of checking out Real Street in Blaine, MN. (northern suburb) www.realstreetonline.com. Give them a call and they should be able to help you. I will be taking my car there when it's time for suspension goodies. They do all kinds of work.
