    What kind of car?
    A GDB chassis car will benefit little/none from strut tower bars with the exception of a rear strut tower bar in the wagon models

    The GC8 Chassis will have noticeable benefits from both front and rear strut tower bars. the old chassis is lighter for a reason.

    I spent the money to buy front and rear cusco strut tower braces, didn't notice anything after I bought the front, noticed a tiny bit of difference with the rear... you are better off putting the money into springs/wheels/tires/swaybars/endlinks/etc in a GD chassis.

    GDB= New Chassis (2002-Present) imprezas
    GC8= Old Chassis (199x-2001)

    On your STI, if you really want to improve the handling without harshing up the ride, i'd highly recommend a set of front and rear sway bars and an aggressive alignment. The stock tires are good enough, but if/when you wear them out, upgrade to some Hankook RS-2 Z212s or Falken Azenis RT-615s.

    All of those mods will have ZERO impact on ride quality, and make the car handle MUCH better.

    for the GD, the reason why the struts won't do anything in the front is because the area where the struts are mounted are right on the firewall giving it alot of bracing. a strut bar is not needed until you're running super stiff suspensions where it'll be stiff enough to actually flex during a hard corner. Otherwise, stock suspensions isnt stiff enough to cause it to flex. for the rear, you might notice some gains. But even if it doesn't do much, it looks pretty cool to have a strut bar in the trunk.

    In order to get a strut tower brace that will help with steering body roll etc, you should really look at how its built

    It cracks me up to see all these ebay ones that have a bolt connecting it to the bar, instead, look for one that really supports everything

    I've never boughten one, was close to, but springs would be much more helpful to me first

    Well I'll probably get flamed for saying so but I feel the front and rear strut towers and H brace helped my '04 sti a lot. When I first bought it a month ago I wasn't pleased with the handling. I added the front brace which helped a little then the rear and H-brace at the same time which helped a lot. I don't know if it's all the H-brace or not as they were added at the same time.

    I do however have Tein flex coil overs and I run them fairly stiff. I also have a Perrin rear sway and end links. You might not feel it with a stock suspension but it definitely feels better when you have coilovers. I plan on getting the fender braces as I'm told that helps out the most per people on iwsti.

    just keep in mind for handling tuning a strut tower brace should be one of the very last things you are looking at. ESPECIALLY on a GD.
