So my girlfriend's Sebring LXI is a piece, and requires way too much work. She hates driving it in the winter because it's FWD and crappy in the snow, and the car is too small to be functional. However she loves it. So we're looking for a car between $6-8k. She's a college student so reliability is key, and so is performance in the snow. Thus we are looking at a Subaru. What do you all suggest in that price range? It has to be an auto, but that's about the only requirement. I'm thinking of a 4 door LGT or something similar. It should probably be newer, but I can do the timing belt if it hasn't been done already.
What body style does she like? Do you want to get her an RS? My RS has not failed me in the snow, and I'd never go back to a FWD car. If this link works, go see our buddies at mtka. http://myfox9.carsoup.com/used/deta...pZXM9RmFsc2UmcGFnZW51bT0yJnNlYXJjaGlkPU80NDAy Here is the quick reference # if the link does not work. You should be able to just put it into a search box. Ref # 7967535
$6-8K is a good price range. You will have lots of options. I would say that you should have here look at the different models and try to decide what she like. ie. if she wants a legacy over an impreza for more cargo room, ect... I know you can get 2002 Impreza wagons for in the $5k range, WRXs are slightly more but more apt to be abused. You could probably find a nice 2001+ legacy (wagon/sedan) in that price range. They are all very nice cars and super reliable. I think that what ever you/she decides upon will be a good car as long as you make sure to look it over really good before you buy.
Absolutely. Good points all around. She likes pretty much all Subaru body styles. Her mom just got a 2010 Forester Limited and she loves that car. Being a girl she's pretty focused on color Anyway, she doesn't really need a whole lot of cargo room. I'm thinking of something NA just because turbo cars tend to be beat on more. Her parents would be happier with something newer than $2000. I think a Legacy is worth taking a look at... I also personally think her getting an RS would be sweet!
4 door RS, or Legacy would be your best options, you can definitely find an 01 RS auto in lower miles and that hasn't been beat on as bad as every other RS 5 spd for a good price
Lowered price! http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1880521 DO IT!! I mean, whats 50k miles a year really lol
