Alright here is my dilemma I don't know if I should buy these V7 STi take offs I found for $350 shipped, or keep my stock struts and just put Prodrives on them. The take offs supposedly have 12k-20k Km on them and my stockers have 66k Mi on them. I just don't know if I can tell myself the take offs are worth it. Serious advice is what I am looking for. Chet
I don't have any experience with those springs, but everything I've read has pointed to Prodrives being the best option all round for the stock struts. Plus, they're $100 cheaper.
I just want to have it be a DD maybe add alittle more power (disco potato) down the road but more than likely no tranny or engine swaps for me.
if you are unsure, you could get a ride with Bill saturday, i believe he has the Prodrives...and then get a ride with Nick, he rocks the STI stuff in his car. if its DD, either way will be nice
Does anyone know if they blow out like the USDM STi struts? Edit: I guess not blow out just well you know the problem
I'd go for the STI takeoffs myself. The damping will be better suited to the spring rates and they will last a little longer. Putting prodrive springs on your stock 66K old struts will finish them off pretty quickly. Being a DD, you probably won't notice, but most struts start to die around 70K. When they get replaced most people can feel the difference.
if these are the spec c ones there is absolutely NOT an "infamous" clunk...if they are the usdm ones then there is.
I think these are also for sale for the sale price, V8 take offs I would get these but unsure if they fit I have heard both yes and no, something to do with the wheel size??
The STI struts clunk because they are inverted. Any inverted setup can do the same thing. Applying a little grease every season will make sure that doesn't happen.
Wow, that is a great deal. Honestly, either setup will be killer. I think you'll benefit from the younger struts...
They arrived in St. Paul at 5pm today! I can't wait to install them, I think it is just the look I was after!!
