You guys think it's worth it to pay 200 to cancel a cell phone contract over ****ty customer service? I was thinking about doing that and switching over to Cingular/AT&T since T-Mobile sucks at life.

Ummm no, AT&T is probably the worst for service. Go with Verizon or Sprint.

I hate both, but I hate t-mobile more. Maybe sprint, I'll see, but they are soooo expensive.

I agree x99999999999 I have never had any trouble with sprint. But when we had AT&T the customer service sucks on balls along with the phone service.

Sprint has the worst customer service ever!! I was gone before the contract was up. I just paid it out. (3 weeks). A buddy had At&t they sucked too. I'm with T-Mobile. Their customer service is good. Better if you go to the store. Verizon has been good for a couple of my friends.

    I buy minutes.
I don't have to pay to cancel a contract. I just have to go get a new SIM card.
Until the cell phone companies can figure out how to work their own charges, I will never have a "contract" with one.

Because, to be honest, charging anyone for wanting to leave is what banks do. The banks have a right to do that. Making a customer feel like they CAN'T choose a better service provider for a phone (because of the fee) is not good customer service. When you take your money to a bank, it's understood that the money may be tied up for a long time, and there would be penalties for taking it out early. That is all spelled out. Buying a cell phone should not be like buying a god damned mutual fund.

Service termination fee - I can understand. but 200? Shouldn't this be like $30 or something?

i have had sprint verizon cingular and tmobile, i like verizon the best and that is what i have but the best thing to do is look at the coverage areas of the places you usually go. it would be dumb to switch if you cant get service every where you usually go!! just my .02

It would be cheaper if the carriers didn't drop the prices of the phones so much when selling the service... Reason for termination penalties is mainly safe guarding companies against customers signing up for service and cancelling after say a month and keeping the phone. Not good business to let customers come and go as they please receiving free phones or heavily discounted phones every other month...

Europe has pretty much all prepaid services as a customer bounces from country to country, however, the customers pay full cost for the phones which are closer to $200 and above.

I am biased to GSM (SIM card service) since I have worked for a GSM wireless carrier for 6 years but as far as customer service goes there will always be customer issues with each and every carrier, but some carriers are just better on a whole then others. T-Mobile and Verizon consistently score the highest on Customer Service while At&t is more in the middle and Sprint is way at the bottom.

perfect example, you are prepay, so you pay more for a phone, that is why there is no termination fee...

next person wants discount on the phone...great there is a 2 year contract required and if you do cancel there is a early termination fee because your getting a phone discount...

    gsm>anything else

and like said above that is the reason for etf fees, everyone and there damn mother wants a free phone..well thats great but dont complain about etf's.

I like my ALLTEL. Bad thing - you have to drive down to Northfield to get the phone and service. BUT, I get signal everywhere, and its really good service, everything can be done over the phone.

Apologizing ahead of time for this long ass rant.
I never really had a problem with Cingular until I got charged 500 for long distance when I was on vacation in Florida. It was suppose to be free and I called ahead to let them know, but then there are the little things they don't tell you. They said they didn't have a station down there for cingular and that's why I was charged, I paid it off and other than that I didn't have any problems after that whatsoever.
T-mobile can lick balls, I have a hard time getting them to understand me. They want to charge me 250 something for service and overage charges in one month. I knew I had overage charges and I expected them since my grandma passed I was getting a lot of phone calls and I was ready to pay for whatever needed. But I was smart enough to look at the bill and realize they counted my mobile to mobile. So I called and they apologized and took off the mobile to mobile I was charge. Which was 150 but the fag faces wouldn't deduct them from the left over overage charges. If they fixed the 150 then that would mean I should have had 150 left to put into the rest of the minutes. I told them how much I should be charged, and I figured they would respect it because I was honest service fee=50, overage charges=90 but they want me to pay 160. So that's last month. This month some jack ass with no ****in job stole my phone, I called asap and no they are charging me for long distance to Nigeria and Liberia, WTF. I called again, still keeping my cool arguing that I told them when it was stolen as soon as possible and they said that the calls are valid there's nothing they can do. Basically I will be paying 300 for two month of phone service. On top of that I think I should end my contract. I don't wanna have to pay that 200 but I think it's better than paying for another 14 months of phone service with a bunch of dip ****s.
