I don't know all the details, but from what I heard from Jason on thursday, all the equipment for the servers was disconnected and transferred to the original owner without him knowing. So, there currently is no server in running order.
t2hw00t is another forum that was run by some of the other members of this forum. it had very few rules and anything goes basically. you'll get temporarily banned for any reason or no reason at all.
Yes, this is getting to be quite asinine. Would you guys mind if we set up a barebones site that you'd have to rebuild again OR set up on a new host with a database that is about 2 months old (we'd lose some posts and threads) I'm sick of my "friend" ignoring my texts and calls. How ****ing hard is it to just admit that you didn't pay your damn colo and screwed everyone?? I want the site moved someplace else - this means ... we will have to start making stuff and taking donations to run the site again, but that's the way it is. Really? A site that doesn't take itself seriously is lame? Nooooooooooooooo waaaaaaaayyyyy maaaaaaaaaan! Impossible!
^Ok, just because tehwoot is down doesn't mean you can use mnsubaru off-topic as a replacement. Keep this thread clean please. edit: and yes, it's good for the lulz
Yeah, we're thinking that we may just pull an older database backup from a few months ago and load it up on a different server. Kinda sucks, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I don't know if our host will ever call us back or answer our messages, but in the event he does, well, I don't know what to say. I'm going to have to shop around for a new host again, see if we can't be up and running in the next week or so. I'm really sorry that this happened, but there really was nothing we could do to stop it from happening...well, aside from using a different host.
We were being hosted by Edgenet/PRISM.net. The website files themselves account for about 1.5GB of files. The database was around 60MB compressed. Yes, the hosting was Linux based.
It's all kindof jumbled now too. For instance, all our DNS stuff is on Edgenet. But the domains are held at Dreamhost. But I wont go back to Dreamhost because they pretty much told us to leave because our database was killing every database server they put it on. And they were slow. Not just the database queries, but even basic HTML and images would load slow. I'd try BlueHost, but I've seen what happens here and I don't want CPU sharing. I may just have to host it myself, which I'm not fond of. THe Plus side of being hosted on PRISM was that we didn't share our server with anyone. t3hw00t was the only site on the server, and we were the only database on the SQL server. So it was lightning fast when it was running.
The only reason I ask is that I admin the site which hosts my site as well as a number of others. Big fat pipes in and out, performance is good. If it was hosted on linux/mysql/php, I might be able to swing something on the (very) cheap. $0.02 worth.
It's been mentioned before by a few people that I should host from home. But I don't know what Comcast's take on that is. I'd hate to get it all up and going and then have Comcast take me down for it and be in the same boat as we are in now. I've also had a few offers like yours for hosting it. I'm going to look into the hosting at home thing and see what the rules are, if they are clear, I'll go that route, otherwise I'm going to have to find a host.
If you host from home that means the site is only up for a couple more months until you get another provider in GB.
Starting up with some missing stuff isn't the end of the world. We'll get over it. Good luck on getting a host sorted out. My eyes glaze over when you guys start throwing that jargon around.
it would be very easy to re-create the last 500 posts on there. :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: :goaste: . . . etc.
I didn't post much but feel pretty confident I thoroughly covered all aspects of phisting in my short time there.
