Hi! New to the forum and searched but didn't see this subject. Looking for advice on tumbler generator valve. Car: 2002 WRX currently at 200k miles baby! Modifications: Nada Problem Description: Running terrible, low idle, etc. It is Engine Code P1088. Mechanic said needs new Tumbler Generator Valve (TGV). After some research on both of our parts, the options I have are to: 1) Replace the motor for $165 plus labor 2) Replace whole unit for $377 plus labor or 3) I have heard about this magical TGV Delete kit + a tune for $??? I am wondering if anyone has had experience with this issue and/or the TGV Deletion option. Also, how much does a tune run usually? Recent Modifications/Maintenance:The 2nd 100k tune-up (Water pump, timing belt, etc) Thanks!
I'd probably go for a used replacement sensor, Grimmspeed used to sell them for cheap, and/or post a WTB here.
Without any performance mods, you won't benefit from a TGV delete. TGV deletes also cause cold weather start problems. There are plenty of people on here with parts laying around, so you should be able to get a TGV motor or a TGV position sensor. The position sensor is the exact same item as the throttle position sensor. Terry
Yep, there are likely quite a few TGV parts laying around in people's garages, lots of people remove them in working condition during their builds. You could try sending a PM to awdimprezal on here. He works the parts counter at Morries MTKA Subaru, and we get a discount there for being an MNSubaru member. You might also try RockAuto, as they carry alot of OEM stuff.
