I used Bullwinkle's Stage2 map from osecuroms and with a few tweeks it is working great. A map is never really done but WOW what a great place to start.

Nate sold me his home built down pipe that came from his WRX for a song and I couldn't be happier with it. A little elbow grease and high temp paint and it's good as new and fits perfect. The Aussie car videos were sweet BTW:biggrin:

Grimmspeed, it's great to have a shop that specializes in Subies and stocks common parts right here in town.

The list could go on, this is just recent stuff that has impressed me about this site. Not to mention all the great people I have met at events.

Down pipe before and after and Airboy dyno plot from a third gear pull from tonight.:yumyum::biggrin:

Glad you like the map, boomer! I've posted a couple new revisions to that map package in the last couple days, so try those out.

It looks like your road dyno from Airboy's worksheet isn't quite calibrated properly. My stage 2 + GMBCS + leaned out AF made a max of 255-260 WHP, and that was during the very cold winter months.

Make sure your tire size is correct, if you're running a different size then stock. You'll most likely need to add an additional line in the dyno section of the sheet. Shoot me a PM if you'd like any help with that.

Is all you have is the downpipe and tune?

It's a road dyno bundled with Airboy's excel spreadsheet, which is a tool that most OS tuners use.

Dyno numbers can be misleading, as they can vary extensively depending on the type of dyno and its corrections, so take the final numbers with a grain of salt...

However, his car is most likely running at least as much or more peak boost as yours with race gas. With the 2.5L, high boost down low typically translates exactly into higher peak torque (and you can really crank the TD04 in the midrange). Mine still makes over 310 wtq during these warm days @ ~19 PSI.

I should note that I believe his numbers are high for those mods. As I mentioned above, I have a feeling that his wheel size's are off (which really effects the road dyno calcs). It's very though to hit above 250 WHP with a TD04.

all i could get out of my jorge tuned TD04 on race gas was 242whp/315wtq

so i was a bit surprised to see this car running so high on pump gas.

I know all dynos are different etc but I dont think road dynos are accurate for any kind of cross car comparison at all, might be helpful for small changes but overall extremely subjective.

Not to bash on Jorge, but his tunes are typically slightly more conservative (likely due to safety, and I don't blame him).

    What's your peak boost like?

Your statement about road dyno's can be easily extrapolated to all dyno's. They all can have different design characteristics, load differently, and can be calibrated differently. Total numbers are really only comparable between cars on one specific dyno, on one specific day, or by 1/4 mile trap speeds.

I had the tire size correct but I may have missed something. I'll have to go back tonight and look again. I agree that road dyno software can be very subjective so take those numbers with a grain of salt. Even comparing them to my stock and stage 1 graphs I don't hold the numbers as gospel, just another tool to help with tuning.

I like the road dyno stuff better...more "real life" than strapping a car to a set of rollers.

    But, whatever.

Nice Dan! Can you add a comparison graph from your stage1 logs?

These HP/TQ numbers definitely can't be taken as official, but for comparison purposes they work out pretty well.

I straight up told him to go conservative on my car, I don't really need to get 10% more power at what could end up being a large cost to my car. I never understood why people need to squeeze the nth degree of power out of their cars and run everything so close to the limits, but to each his own.

peak boost is 16psi on pump gas, 18psi on race gas. again, could have gone farther, but I just don't need it.

even still its still about the same or relatively close to a lot of 06 WRXs that i have seen that are tuned at stage 2 on that particular dyno.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I completely understand where you're coming from. I have the luxury of logging and checking on my car's health daily, most people don't.

I should note to everyone else reading that I have found even 18 PSI on pump 91-92 in the midrange with the TD04 runs perfectly safe. This goes for both the 2.5L and the 2.0L WRX. Often, people are boost limited by the stock BCS, however.

Yup, I run 19psi on pump and 20psi on E85. No issues here.
