I just wanted to let everyone know if you need any clutch work done to your car get in touch with turbo_turtle.

Started the car at 9 am Sunday finished it at 2 am Monday. Yes it really took that long. If you are not aware 05 lgt uses t50 torx bolts to hold the flywheel. Well who ever did the original clutch replacement tightened the bolts to tight. So we had to go through three T50 torx bits to just get 6 out of the eight bolts out. Ended up drilling the other two out.

Before drilling them out Dan gave me the option of putting ever thing back together or go for the drill. He is very good at communicating with you and giving you options. This whole clutch job easily took six hours longer than it needed to. I am very happy at the Patience and dedication Dan had on finishing the job. I was ready to throw in the towel long before we finished.

So if you don't have all the tools to do a clutch job or the know how, pm Turbo_Turtle. He will treat you very well. If your really lucky he might even take you turkey hunting while on a parts run.;)

Haha, thank you Justin for the kind words.

Yes indeed, it was a bad dream come true. This was the third clutch for the car and whoever had changed the flywheel last time must have used an impact gun and/or did not follow the proper bolt torquing sequence. Two of the flywheel bolts came out fine while the rest were way over tightened. Two of the over tightened bolts stripped out because they were beyond what a Torx-50 bit could handle. So I drilled out the bolts from the crank and was careful to not touch the crank at all.

The turkey hunting was very fun. I'll have to do that more often! :)

Clutch Master FX300. I am having Map install there new 20g turbo they were advertising on here. The stock clutch will not hold much past stg2. It's to bad because the clutch only had about 15k to 20k miles on it. When we took it out it still looks new.

I have been really impressed with the fx300. The clutch pedal feels to be about the same after i have put a few miles on it.

To add- Dan (TurboTurtle) did a fantastic job of bringing my WRX back to life.. We had no idea what was wrong with my car, but in no time Dan figured out the problem, gave me the options and we were off running.. Dan is absolutely great at what he does... He's meticulous, straightforward and honest... Dan has Mad HONOR!

I want to also let everyone know that there's a cool OEM Import parts shop north of the cities called SLIDEGOOD (www.slidegood.com) where i found my new used tranny..

Thank you everyone for the advice and support in getting my WRX back on the road, i couldn't have done it without the help of MNsubaru and members such as Dave G and Dan!

Thank you Andrew for the kind words. I was also a little surprised with Slide Good. They basically pulled out a perfectly working 5MT out of a perfectly working car and sold it to you. A few hours later, it was in your car and wheels were turning!

Scary transmission noise was scary indeed. Glad we got you fixed up and you don't have to fear it blowing up on you when you are driving. :) Now get to work! lol ;)
