Got a fix it for my (deep breath!) 49% window tint. Legal % in WI is 50% I have to take off all of my tint. Its a film kind. How is this done?
Pretty much. i found that paint stripper works brilliantly for the residue. Just spray on rag and wipe once and its clean. Although you don't want that crap on your interior.
49%?! Isn't there some allowable margin for error? I mean, it's 1% too dark? Come on... Laws are 50% front/35% rear in WI, right? You should get points for not having 35% all around! Makes me think twice about applying the pre-cut tint for my wagon that I have in a box waiting for warmer weather...
yeah, i think it even says on the meter that it is 2-3% error. I would just pay and keep the tint. Thats what i did. Removing tint is not very easy.
Removing tint takes about an hour, if that. I couldn't justify paying $122.00 everytime I got pulled over. Give it time, yours will come off soon enough
2-3% error on the meters, plus even brand new untinted glass isn't allowing 100% of the light through... if they seriously called you on 49%, they're full of... yanno. Still sucks, though... especially if its your 3rd
Ammonia helps a lot to soften up the tint adhesive too, and it shouldn't hurt the interior or paint either. Just be careful not to breathe too much in it is VERY potent.
if you REALLY want to ge the sticky stuff off with no hassle and are very careful about your interior, nothing works better than: dont get any on anything thats not glass.
um... 2/32 is minimum tread depth for safety dude.. why the hell you complaining.. I wish more cops would do that crap.. sure help get some of these unsafe vehicles of the road
you got a fix it ticket for it being at 49% instead of 50??? wow, that cop must not understand that our cars come with tint from the factory so even if you put 50% film on you will read less.
BIG SECRET!!! DONT use chemicals, use a fabric steamer. stam the corner, peel up a corner, SLOWLY (!!) steam, peel, steam, peel, steam, etc... all the glue will stay on the film, wont f' up the defrost lines, and the best part is only thing to clean up is the water.
