So... has anyone done a 5MT from a LGT into a 04 wrx? i have heard they are stronger gears, but are a differnt type of clutch system then the wrx, is it an easy swap? has it been done? i found a LGT tranny on nabisco for $650...
    any insight would be apreciated.

as far as i know the clutch systems are differnt. that is that the sti and wrx are both pull clutch types and the others are push types. i could be wrong but im pritty sure. a few other things to concider is what are the dif ratios on both trannys if they are differnt you will need a new rear end to. and there are a few shift linkage things that may have to be changed over from you old tranny.

I believe it's possible to just swap the actual gears into your WRX case.

the only thing with that is that you have to change your front diff out or swap the ring gear because the ring and pinion are a matched set.

you can do that in fact i have done that with my trany however if you dont have a matching ring and pinion they will make a winning niose and over time they will tear each other up.

    So.....next week?;)

I started reviewing this option as well, but I'm not confident in the LGT gears as they are only slightly stronger than 04+ WRX gears. Combine the LGT gears with 350+ at the wheel and chances are if you mess up your shifts too many times it will end up costing you dearly.

2.5 block with a good turbo will easily net 350+ at the wheels. On the other hand, if you were to stick with a 2.0 I believe the LGT gears would leave you the safety margin people are looking for.

just my 2 cents...based on reviews from the inturdnetz
