I have noticed lately that when Im parked, and I try to put my car in reverse, that it just doesnt seem to want to go. Sometimes if Ithrow it into first, and then into reverse it will go, but most of the time I will have to let the car roll one way or the other for reverse to engage. Is this normal? or is it something I should be concerned about?

Sounds normal to me. I've had an '02 and now an '07 and noticed the same every once in awhile.

Its a subaru trans thing. The reverse lock out is tricky. For me and my 01 RS you have to lift your foot a little bit off the clutch while trying to go into reverse.

On my '01 I'd let the clutch all the way out again, blip the throttle just a tiny amount, then it'd slip right into reverse without any further drama.

I put the group N rear shifter mount on and it seemed to help this a little bit.

I do either of these and have no issue anymore.

What has always worked for me is putting it in 5th then straight back to reverse.

I think it's safe to assume by now that this is a common issue.

    1st then reverse.

anyone elses transmission grind if you dont do your ritual prior to putting it in reverse?
