Long story short. I was backed into and am starting to price out a new front bumper cover and someone to paint it. So who do you guys trust as far as painting goes? BTW I will need it the OEM SWP which is a 3 stage paint...not sure if that will make a difference.
i had tom at hyper-tek paint my bumper and i love it ( cheap too). his SN on here is legendx i believe.
thanks for the vouch ^^ yea the satin white pearl does up the price a little bit. reason for that is if the pearl was in the white paint itself you wont be able to see it. so basically you would lay the white, then put the pearl into a binder or blender and lay that, then clear. hence tri-stage paint.
Yeah, even the pearl touch-up paint at Lexus is 3 step. Basecoat, pearlcoat, clear. Its crazy. I always thought it was a one-bottle thing for touchup paint!
I should have been more clear I guess. Not looking for a body shop, really dont feel like getting gouged on labor and a 3 stage paint at a body shop is going to damage my wallet. Was more-so looking for people that know what they are doing and can do the job on the side for a reasonable amount of money.
im hoping for a place by the end of this month. once i get in there i can bring you through. unless you want it done sooner, ill see what i can do.
can we maybe have a WHERE to GET PAINTED sticky somewhere.. this is about the 10th one in 6 mths of people asking... be good for reference
I am not looking for a body shop as I stated previously. I was pretty much looking for people that know how to paint and do a good job here on mnsubaru. If I wanted body shop recommendations I would have asked for them, fact remains I would rather support members than give my business to an overpriced body shop.
As I see it, Toast and you are talking about the same thing, but he's suggesting something broader for the sticky.
Ok lets try this again. I've cleaned this thread up a bit. I just want to help Roon find a good painter.
I understand what you were saying Aegis, I guess my second post might have come off condescending...but I thought I had made it clear in my more polite post what I was after. Apparently I had not made it clear enough being that people were still making posts suggesting I use the search function like it would make one bit of difference. I know scarecrow does painting, I infact pm'd him about it a while ago but for whatever reason communication on the matter stopped. So now I am looking for other members that know how to paint and can do it well.
I think that Skarecrow isn't ignoring you or anything, he's really working hard on his camo project. He works on it all day, goes home for a few hours, and then works on it all night I'd send him a PM again
I asked Phi11 why he would go to Raymond and "you get what you pay for" and it get's deleted? Getting a little delete happy are we miss aegis?
steph's doing a great job here, someome has to clean up all the ****. raymond autobody took two week to fix my old truck, drivers side door was hit, told me it would take three days, a month later all the molding fell off, wtf? plus I went to Highschool with some of the guys, and I don't trust them, AT ALL.
Damn that's crazyness! I have had 4 repairs done there and have had flawless outcomes every time. I would highly suggest them IF you want to have work done at a legit body shop.
Recommendation I can recommend Marty at First Class Customs in Apple Valley, (612) 889-8768. He was fair and explained everything when working on my 2002 WRX. If you have questions about my experience, please let me know. Regards, John Wolf
did I say BODY SHOP in my post NO.. you never said you didnt in the original.. I was saying we need a sticky that lists ALL places and people who do this stuff.. whether a body shop or just a small spray... I mean if you wanna be reactive about it.. I will then say did you NOT see the posting in the MODS section.. the camo car... I am sure he paints!!
