ok PM me about it guys, i will talkt o Jorge, if we can get some ppl together, lets do so....AND SOON or else I will prbably just drive there, figure its about a horse a piece, price wise, just saves time to have him come up, so lets get it done!
I agree; I think there are more than enough people around MN who'd like a tune from Jorge. The hard part is to get something coordinated. Are there other places/forums where we can go to recruit more people from MN? Ask all your Subaru-owning friends and co-workers! I'd be game for anytime in August or September (or later) except Aug 2-9. I'm willing to put down a deposit immediately. Who else is willing to put down a deposit? dipp? soccer7? GL4662? B-REX? KSAL? 6Mtizzle? Let bikerboy (Matt from RS) know and let's go for it this time. Sorry I wasn't around yet for that earlier attempted tuning session in June; I didn't know about this forum yet plus I was a little busy getting married that month Dan
What would we be looking a for price? Any ballpark figures?? So I know if I have enough cash flow. Than I will know for sure. Thanks!! And if I do I can do it pretty much whenever. Just need a week, week and 1/2 advance and I'll just take a vacation day from work... OOOOO, I'm getting excited just thinking about it!!! :run:
Me too! Im thinking ballbark from what i added off the site and talking to jorge, thinking possibly 500 range? Correct me if I am off anyone.....but we still need a place, RS didnt sound too key on it.
I was thinking septemberish would be cool (literally) not all that great to tune in summer heat, is it?
but who wants to enjoy their car the rest of the summer and fall instead of just for month or two while its nice out? maybe its just me, but i know i wanna beat on it and ahve a little fun before school starts back up!
My understanding is that the safest time to tune is in the heat. That's what another tuner had told me anyway. If you tune the engine to avoid knocking in the heat, then it shouldn't knock when it's colder out either. Someone smarter can correct me if I'm mistaken.
Yes, this makes sense, but at the same time, I have heard of tuning sessions being cut short, because the car gets too hot on the dyno. Obviously, at high hp numbers, in reality, the car-radiator-intercooler would be seeing way more moving air than the fans that are used for that purpose while on the dyno. I wouldn't want to pay much for a tune that was "cut short" even though it would probably still be way better than an ots map.
Maybee I quoted the wrong thing... You could set up a poll for a month for a tune...and see which would be most likely to have the most people getting a tune.
ok ya you did quote the wrong thing, i thought you were trying to make fun of something I said or something....Ya I just think its one of those things that has to get done, If we set it up today it still wouldnt happen for weeks, so in my mind the sooner set up, the better, agreed?
No, no... Um, I would just like to know what a price would be.(?) Than I will know for sure on my end!!! And I was just implying that it would be a good idea to post time frames up (dates DD/MM). Or even just what month..And see which one works out the best for most people and go from there. (If I still even have my car.)
I would say first find out what works for the tuner and what shop your going to for location if it's RS or whatever. Coordinate a DD/MM (Or weekend, if possible.) again finding what works for the tuner and the shop for use. See if you can get a couple time frames picked out. See what days are able to work, and see who's the most available. And post them.. LOCATION, $PRICE$, How many people you need for him to make the trip. Create a dyno day\dyno weekend if possible..
Hey guys, We need to get more serious to have any chance of Jorge coming in the near future... First off, I'm guessing we could expect to spend $500 per person or slightly more, but it's totally dependent on how many people we get to split Jorge's travel/hotel expenses. And unless we can get at least 4 committed customers willing to put down advance payments, this won't happen. There isn't a planned date yet, so let me be so bold as to suggest a date and everyone can respond as to whether they can make it work: September 12th at RS Motors! Get to work finishing those mods! Here are the potentially interested people I know about so far. Add your name to the list! 1) me (Goofeth) 2) soccer7 3) dipp 4) GL4662 5) B-REX 6) KSAL Let's hear whether September 12th would work for you!!! And sent PM's to bikerboy and let him know that you're willing to put down advance deposits! Deposits are necessary because you can't have Jorge driving hundreds of miles and paying for gas/hotels/etc and RS Motors booking their dyno for a day or two, and then having some customers flake out and cancel! ps. Here are some older threads you can skim through to get an idea of how these Dyno Days have worked in the past: http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21286 http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20537 http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7105
I'll let you know as soon I can. I have to check with my work schedule and how much change is in my pockets. I'm leaving for the north shore this weekend, but I'll get back to you soon.
Sorry guys, Aug 22nd has already been vetoed by the powers that be, so lets try again a little later: September 12th at RS Motors! Would Sept 12th work for everyone? And yeah, as far as the deposits, bikerboy is the one you want to contact. That's Matt at RS Motors, and he's the one who needs to coordinate this with Jorge and get the $$ numbers to crunch. Thanks!
Yeah I would have liked it a little sooner too but we need enough time to schedule the trip for Jorge, plus a couple of the guys have some mods to finish up.
(sounds of crickets chirping...) All you guys disappear? If I don't hear for sure "Yes" or "No" from you guys in the next week then I'm going to give up on this idea as well. You would have a month and a half to finish your mods, which should be enough if you're serious.
I'll have to take a look at the money well, and the vacation schedule at work (they only let one person off per shift at a time:roll
how much sooner are we talking? i can probably get my mods finished up sooner.. otherwise i might make a trip down there again
I'm still trying to check interest for Sept. 12th. Anything before that isn't too likely since it takes time to organize something with RS Motors and Jorge.
Just an update, here's what we tentatively have so far for Sept 12th for a Jorge tune at RS Motors: 1) Me 2) GL4662 3) KSAL We need at least 4, so is anyone else willing to commit? There have been a few others who have sounded somewhat interested: 4) dipp 5) GL4662's friend 6) SubeN'Siren 7) soccer7 8) B-Rex Anyone else? I assume they'd do 4 tunes per day again (2 hours per tune), so I'm not sure if we can have MORE than 4 cars unless we have 8 across 2 days??? (sorry, that probably sounded confusing) If that's the case then it's first come, first serve...
I'm going to have to say I don't think I will make it this time around. Sorry for being a "handraiser" but I am interested in getting a Jorge tune, but I don't think I'll be ready to be tuned by 9/12. If it were another month or more down the road, I could probably do it.
ok I have thought it out, I wanted to get tuned ahead of time but shipping reasons and setbacks are causing it to be later than I was thinking so the 12th will work great for me. I am in for sure, just PM me what you think it will cost and a tenative time (b/c I am in Eau Claire WI for school) and I will be there. Awesome that we got this set up, Goofreth just let me know what your thinking. thanks a ton. -cody
Awesome, we actually have 5 "for sure" people now who would like a Jorge tune 9/12 at RS Motors! 1) Me 2) GL4662 3) KSAL 4) soccer7 5) dipp and still possibly 6) GL4662's friend I've left a message for Matt from RS Motors so hopefully he's able to get this worked out with Jorge soon and let us know how to put down our deposits and how much, etc. And with more than 4 people, if we'll need to go across 2 days or not... When I hear any more details I'll let you know!
Hey guys, great news! Jorge has Saturday, Sept. 13th open to come to MN to perform the tunes! Hope that doesn't mess up any of your schedules compared to the 12th, but I'm guessing that it'll be even better for most of us since fewer of us will have to take a day off from work on Saturday. I didn't think Jorge would be able to do it on a Saturday. Now the most important part, we need to send Matt from RS Motors our deposits AS SOON AS POSSIBLE using Paypal. He said "$250.00 plus 4% paypal fees sent to me at: [email protected]" Then we'll get the last few details sorted out, like what time we all need to be there that day. Here's who we have down for a tune: 1) Me 2) GL4662 3) KSAL 4) soccer7 5) dipp See you 9/13 at RS Motors! Dan
To GL4662, KSAL, and dipp: Just a reminder that if you haven't already done so, please put down your deposit AS SOON AS POSSIBLE or this deal could still fall apart... I know that soccer7 and I have already put down our deposits. RS Motors and Jorge don't have much time to arrange this tuning day and they need your deposits right away so they know we have enough people before booking Jorge's travel & hotel, etc. Also, I know of one other person who is interested so if you don't put down your deposit in the next couple days I'm going to let him take one of the tuning sessions ahead of you. I'm not sure yet how many tuning sessions Jorge will have time for on Sept 13th (4-5?) so you'd better respond quickly! To put down your deposit you need to sign up for a Paypal account at Paypal.com and send $260 to RS Motors; their account is "[email protected]". Or else just call RS Motors at 952-707-0100 and talk to Matt. Thanks, and hope to see you Sept 13th! Dan
Where did you guys go? Bikerboy needs those deposits NOW or the deal is off... Jorge is on the verge of booking 9/13 for something else because they haven't received enough deposits. We only have 2 deposits so far (myself and soccer7). I was waiting for KSAL, GL4662, and dipp to get in line first since they showed interest first, but at this point anyone who puts down a deposit is first in line for a tune, and anyone else is going to lose out. In fact we're all going to lose out unless a couple more people put down deposits IMMEDIATELY.
Bumping so that 1 or 2 more people will get their deposits in TODAY! This is for a tune by Jorge on 9/13 at RS Motors. You need to put down a $260 deposit; send it using Paypal to [email protected] (that's Matt at RS Motors). We need 1 or 2 more people to put down deposits immediately or Jorge is going to cancel...
