    Tuning....

Ok does anyone know of a shop locally that can tune without a piggy back? I was told its posible to just flash the stock computer without getting a cobb or a utech.

someone told me about an online site that you just buy a cable from that connects your obd2 to the laptop and then you use there software that is downloadable to creat maps. He said it was like $80 or so, so this is definatly a cheap alternative to the ap and utechs. I can't remember the site but the guys name is chuck from fargo nd and I think he is tjamz

    it's a site called OpenECU.
Ron down at RS Motors has already started working with it on the evo side, and the software is the same between the two cars.

All you need to do your own tuning with the OpenECU software is the Tactrix cable, a couple of paper clips, and a laptop running XP.

No, the cable that can flash VWs is different than the one that you use for Subaru.

Google OpenECU and Tactrix and you'll have more info than you can handle.

I called Ron to see what the status is on a scooby cable was. He said he has been waiting for a while for a cable and still hasent been able to get one.

I would let ron borrow mine. If need be. If he's intersted I could drop it off at RS motors.

I am also working on OPEN ecu, I will be looking for a few volunteer subaru's for some testing after I get some work done on the MR.
I am probably 2 weeks out from offering this as a service.

Sweet I'll keep you in mind. The 06 sti platform appears to be supported.
Pretty much I'd like a car for a day/weekend to work out the bugs. Odds are I wouldn't charge for the tune as I would be doing Research and Development on the vehicle.
I would require a car with minimal modifications and a full tank of gas, in exchange you'll get more power :).

i've got a few things I'm looking for in a tune as well..

The car's mostly stock with an exhaust.

I'm working on a base map for an 06 wrx here with just a catback.... it would probably work really well in your car... Big gains can be had on the 06 wrx with just a flash.
