I was asked the question last night by my buddy (Rizzy) about turboing his car. It's a 2008 2.5i.
It's not so simple right? Or do you just get a td04 and all associated mods and go to town?

Anyways, all help is appreciated and if you have any input on the matter, please share.

    Thanks

    it isn't so simple

Better off selling his car and getting a turbo car.

    It's VERY simple.

Sell the '08 and go buy a cheaper (and therefore older) WRX.

The engine's life will drop. It's nice that with the '08, you can reflash the ECU compared to the old skool, which is a nice PLUS!!! The pistons are higher compression so you need to limit your boost. It'll make LOTS of torque with the higher compression and added torque. This is when things may start to break and fail. Need a stronger clutch to hold the power. Need higher Octane.... E85 will be ideal for your higher compression and boost, but you can tune for 91-93. It is a bit of a headache... but can be done easier with the newer '05+.

Tell him to just leave it alone, or sell it and buy an already turbo'd car.
