Where is the leak coming out from? An oil line goes into the turbo and a drain hose comes out of it. If the oil is leaking out of the air inlet/outlet, you've got bad seals (turbo problem) or you need an oil catch can (motor issue).

Oil is coming out of the turbine fin. With the down pipe off, we saw a good amount of oil in the compressor housing.

Is there some sort of seal in the turbo that may have blew out?

As far as I know, turbo seals will wear over time but can last over 100,000 miles if the turbo wasn't abused all the time and it has its oil changed periodically. Check to see if there's a lot of oil in the intercooler. If so, get a catch can. If not, bad seal and replace that Mofo. :)

^^synthetic oil and an oil/filter change as recommended by Subaru. Last I read, and don't quote me on it, it was 4500 miles. 3000 if you're loaded with discretionary income and/or wanna be extra safe. ;)

You cant see inside of the compressor side of the turbo with the DP off? I think you are getting your terms mixed up.

Hot side, Turbine, Or that rusty iron thing

Cold side, Compressor, or that shinny Aluminum thing connected to that really rusty thing

    So where was the oil?

its the part that is covered up by the downpipe. when the downpipe is off, you see the fan and a gap...that was the area with oil.
