Was boosting in 5th yesterday on the freeway, and my car made a poof noise and seemed like it shut off all boost. The check engine light came on right away when that happened. I took it to my buddies garage and he checked the code and it said it was the wastegate. He deleted the check engine light and the car drives fine now. Does this mean I may need a new wastegate soon?

Probably boost creep, hitting the fuel cut.

    Mods?

I had the same problem once temps started to drop. I was overboosting.
Had to make a few adjustments to the tune.

I run a modded version of Bulwinkle's 06 stg2 gmbcs tune. I would guess you need to change the wastegate temp compensation tables.
    (Info came from Bulwinkles advice)

common problem when it gets colder. I noticed last night that mine was a bit higher than normal, but it's not an issue for my set-up. I've been hitting 21.8 daily and last night I knew if was colder so I datalogged and noticed 22.3psi...but no issues

Yup. Sounds like your tune just needs a little tweak. I returned your PM. :)
