After talking to @yuseforester about my passenger side valve cover gasket and the high temperature on that side of the engine, i started thinking about wrapping or using a thermal blanket around the up pipe. I was interested if anyone has used a thermal blanket on their up pipe to cut down on under hood temps? Are there any down sides to wrapping an up pipe?

    Thanks
    Josh

If you actually use exhaust wrap it requires removal of the up pipe for best results, and if it's not wrapped tightly enough it can trap extra detritus, which could lead to corrosion depending on the metal quality. On the other hand, blankets are easier to install (usually) but cost more. Try ebay or amazon to see if you can find an affordable one to try.

I have my up pipe and down pipe wrapped and it really makes a difference in heat. The only downside I see is the potential PITA it could be to remove the up pipe if your bolts are frozen.
