i believe if you shoot justin a pm he can tell you a quicker way. but i think he said somethin like just removing the entire exhaust manifold along with the up-pipe after unbolting the turbo side... i tilted the engine because that's the only way i found
i am well aware that the stocker is catless and does not need to be replaced. This is for a rotated setup IF i were to do one. alot o things still up in the air, just getting a feel for things
i never herd of tilting the motor for a up pipe in stall? i did it on my wrx and just took off the manafold and turbo bolts. but whatever works i gess
yeah up pipes are a piece of cake if you know the right way of doing it. like fobia said, take off the passenger side collector and loosen the top uppipe bolts that are around the turbo. you may or may not need to jack up the engine. it does make life easier just to jack it up a couple inches....and its really easy to do. take off both motor mount nuts, then jack up the engine by placing a jack underneath the oilpan. you will need to place something to disperse the weight from the jack to the oil pan(think 2x8 wood). if you do this the up pipe will fall right out. also i'd loosen up the egt a bit so i can move around when the up pipe comes out.
Well, if he's doing a rotated setup its much different than a regular uppipe install. Things to consider when doing a rotated setup. Got forged internals? If not, start there. Save yourself some time and money in the long run. Got a strong clutch? Definetly going to need something other than stock to hold the power. Fuel. Pump and injectors are a must. What EMS are you going to run?? I know you mentioned to me last night about doing head work, ide really suggest you build your motor (forged internals) before you even think about head work. Just my $.02
what does this have to do with installing an up pipe??:hsugh: He is still going to have to use the same methods to get the stocker out no matter what route he goes with in the future.
i was just given dreamis a hard time. in the case of, for the most part, any aftermarket up pipe you will not need to jack up the engine. the stock up pipe has heat shields so its thicker. you can do it without jacking up the motor if you really dont want to jack it up, but it makes your life a littl easier if you do. i dont see how a rotated up pipe would go in much differently than a non-rotated one. i havent played with one at all though
how much louder is the car (wrx's not sti's) with a catless uppipe? And are there any gains to see with my soon to be 03' wrx?
Ahhhh, you can run stg2 ap map without having a uppipe in there. Stg3 needs a downpipe and a stg2 map. Russ
