I just got my Used Oil Analysis back from Blackstone Labs on my 2005 Impreza RS. I was running whatever Morries Minnetonka Subaru filled it up with when I bought the car. I was also running the OEM Filter which apparantly did a better than average job according to the UOA. AFAIK it was Conventional Mobil1 (Mobil Clean 5000?) and the UOA seems to confirm that. I know a few people here work there, can anyone confirm this? It looks like everything is running well, they even reccomended a longer service interval for the car. Which I may try with the next oil change. I put in Valvoline Durablend 5w-30 this time and I am thinking I may go back to Mobil Clean 5000 for the next change if that is truely what I was running before and it did so well for so cheap. Has anyone else gotten one before? I am think I may do this once a year or so since it provides so much good info about the engine, especially since I didn't know the full history of the car being the second owner... Sweet, that is what I am running in my Wife's car. My only advice would be pick an oil and stick to it for the life of the car.
Not that it works for every car (my car is a freak of nature, ask anyone) but ive run so many different kinds of oils in my car its not even funny.
Thanks for the info AWDimprezaL. It looks like Mobil Clean 5000 5w-30 and Mobile Drive Clean 5w-30 are very similar in regards to their specs. Hopefully I will see similar results once I move back to it!
I'm a Rotella T guy. However, there's nothing in this thread talking about Rotella T. So I wasn't saying anything. I am tempted to do an oil analysis on my car running it.
I mailed out the sample on the 16th and got an emailed report on the 20th. I was happy with the turnaround time. Just out of curiosity (I hope I am not opening the flood gates) what is so special about Rotella T? I hear the price is good, but I can't find much on the performance...
