I need a new valve cover gasket on the passenger side. How hard would this be to do myself? and what do I have to do?

5 bolt seals and bolts 2 spark plug tube seals, and the gasket itself, pretty damn easy.

yeah its a sohc. Well BP subaru also said my drivers side head gasket is leaking. I talked to one of my dad's friends that used to work for morries and he told me you dont really need to replace the head gasket until the car starts overheating. this true?

True indeed. If it's just seeping oil or coolant I wouldn't really worry about it. Just keep an eye on the coolant level so that it doesn't overheat.
