Hey boys and girls, i want to spread the word that the final release of Service pack 1 is now available for download at the Microsoft download center. If u run Vista u have got to get this update!! Better performance, stability and security.

My average fps for Crysis improved from 33.4 to 39.9 :yumyum:

As of right now, I hate Vista.
Maybe I'll learn to like it, if...

meh....people hating vista remind me about the controversy between windows 98 and XP.

Yes, it is new. Yes, it is different. Yes, it still needs ironing out, BUT it is still superior.

To be honest, SP1 improves vista a great deal. I havent had any microsoft media center errors and I am getting more stable FPS in game with SLI enabled.

    Yes, It'll take a while.
But for now, I'll sit back and let Vista slowly crawl under my skin.

I have no use for Vista as of right now, but I'm sure I will soon.

    There. Or here. Sometimes both.
Exactly. Meaning Vista won't be ready for another 3-5 years.

I actually like it - I dont use as my full time computer though which helps. It will be a lot better once the hardware starts to catch up.

    Windows 98 SE > All

Will vista automatically install the new service pack? Or must I expend all that the extra energy to click the link and manually install?

I've been running Vista with SP1 on my laptop for a couple of months now. Under most normal conditions, it decreased my resource demand by about 100mb and 5% CPU usage.

I said it in the apple thread and I'll say it here. I switched to apple after installing vista beta a few years ago. It was just as foo foo as OSX and had all kinds of annoying widgets and do dads, I figured if that's my only choice, I might as well go with who knows that crap best:laugh:

Remember Millenium Edition!? Windows ME < all other OS's My parents rocked that for way too long, I think my gf has Me on one of her computers.

I'm holding on to XP until I'm sure that Vista isn't another Me. - sound like a good plan?

    I doubt it's that bad.

It seemed like microsoft didn't even consider some of the security holes and bugs that existed when Me was fashioned. At least vista was created with security as one of its highest concerns from the get go. Whether they're capable enough to write excellent code to achieve their goal might be in question though.
