I have a Sam's Club and Costco membership... Perks of the job! (I get to expense memberships to accounts I cover!) I also occassionally shop at Wal-Mart but usually only for Tuesday DVD's that come out for $14... :biggrin: Shop at Target a bit more though... Yuppies FTW!!! lol!
I never shop at Walmart it just feels wrong in there. Knowing that people who work there get paid pennies and barely have any health insurance makes me sick. Walmart CEO should really be ashamed of the company he is running. And anyone who buys walmart stock should think about what they are doing. I guess law is the law and you should read the "fine print". The funny thing is that its alway the "fine print" that has something tricky in it. It feels like its always a way to scam you and lie to you somehow. Can business just be done honestly, without lies and "fine print"?
A contract is a contract. Read them. Most people don't then want to cry when something isn't going their way. Look at the current mortgage crisis. Please explain. Wal-Mart is one of very few American companies turning a profit right now both here and overseas. The overseas part is HUGE. Tell me how getting rid of an American based multi-billion dollar corporation is going to help pull America out of this downward spiral.
walmart sells cheap crap that is mostly made oversees for pennies by little girls in sweat shops. They pay nothing to their American employees. Walmart is a a greetty(sp) and unethical business.
This is mostly true. The cheap crap is usually some watered-down version of what the normal product is. Allow me to elaborate (example): Fram oil filters was propositioned by Wal-Mart, as they wanted to start carrying this brand in their stores. Wal-Mart approached the contract by stating something to the effect of: WM: "We would like to purchase 1 billion dollars worth of product" F: "Great, that'll be 1 billion filters at your cost" WM: "Well, we want to get more product for our money, make it cheaper for us or no contract" F: "Yes, daddy, can we have another?" So, Fram takes their filter (which usually houses a tin retaining plate for filtering material) and replaces the retainer plate with a cardboard one. The result: cheaper product, but more of it. Subsequently, the savings is also passed to the CU, but the product has changed from what is sold at other shops. This is a bit of a dramatization, but I think it explains "purchasing power" fairly well. They do something like this with electronics, too. Take a look at computers at Wal-Mart, and you'll notice the same model numbers as Best-Buy or the manufacturer's website but with a "WM" or "W" notation on the model number. Those are usually refurbished product sold as new, from what I recall. Those practices may have changed, but it gives an idea of how the cash is saved.
