On Hennepin in the Uptown Minneapolis area, they have gravel on the roads. My best guess is a rock hopped up from a bus and tapped my window just right, as I was parked on the side.

As I was talking to the insurance agent sitting there, a city bus went by and rocks were flying everywhere.

    Sucks!!!

Yikes, glad to hear it is being covered. I know someone that had a plow truck throw a huge paving rock through his 1/4 window, and they wont cover it. He was parked in his driveway!

    RE: Safelite.

I've heard of them, my dad used to work for them for a number of years (albeit, up in the fargo/moorhead area mainly, short stint in duluth). Skipping to the important bit, it really depends on the people working in the shop... same as any other large chain store. Some are good, some are... less than good.

Yep, avoiding Hennepin at all costs atm. Almost took my motorcycle down it, and thought otherwise.

And the dust from the gravel is coating everything. It was getting in the apartment I was in, and all of the cars had a tinge of gray.

I did notice as I was leaving that they had water trucks spraying the gravel down.

Yes I got stuck on Hennepin the day after I got my new rims and started freaking out......Can someone explain wtf they are thinking just throwing down a bunch of gravel all over the city and not paving any of it right away? The worst part is they didnt even lay any gravel coming off 94.....That part of Hennepin is completely ****ed.

I've been using Lyndale for the last 6 months just because of how rough it is just before Franklin Ave. And that gravel has been there for at least a week now.

New window just got put in. Now I need to go get it re-tinted. Know of a good place in the Minneapolis-St Paul area?

I just need the back window done, and it has to be $60 or less (that's how much insurance is paying for the re-tinting).

Wow. I'm kinda surprised that insurance is willing to pay for the re-tinting.

I think it's because I told her I bought the car like that and I didn't know if it was stock tint or not.

So she was like we will pay for up to $60 if re-tinting needs to be done. So it worked out pretty sweet.

just called them today for the rally car....because its a rally car and we don't care about scratches.

DO NOT GO TO THEM FOR YOUR CAR!!!!!!

Why you ask? About a year ago they did my windshield on my 04 wrx sedan. They scratched the paint in about 10 spots on the drivers side A pillar. The passenger side only about 5 spots....:(

I assume they scratched the hell out of it when they were taking my old one out.

Additionally, the built-in sun visor that surrounds the rear view mirror was blemished and looked like crap. When I complained they wouldn't do anything about it.

One of the better spots to go to is Lehmans Auto glass in Bloomington. A bit more expensive, but better quality glass and top top notch installations.

Too late! Lol. But I stood out there the entire time. They took the old one out and as they were about to put the new one in he was cleaning it, and I noticed some scratches and told him he can't put that glass in. He agreed and had to call another team member to bring a new glass. Luckily I caught that or else that glass would have probably been in the car if I did the "I'll be inside, call me when you're done."

Your car is a WMC car...your chassis is tweaked enough already to cause this, a small rock hitting the already stressed glass made it explode.

Highly possible. If the frame was bent wouldn't the new glass not have gone on right? I'm sure the guy would have had issues lining everything up right.
