use aim ad hack to remove all that crap that comes with aim

if not, use aimpro (it doesn't contain crap with it)

or don't use aim at all

Can't you remove the add-in from Add/Remove programs?

    If it's not listed....regedit

also, don't ever install AIM or any version of it, bad idea in the first place. Actually, anything AOL related is a bad idea ;)

If you REALLY need to use AIM, use the web based version: https://my.screenname.aol.com/_cqr/login/login.psp?seamless=novl&sitedomain=sns.aimexpress.aol.com&lang=en&locale=us&authLev=2&siteState=ver%3a1%252c0%26ac%3aAE%26ld%3aaimexpress.aim.com%26uv%3aAIM%26lc%3aen-us%26ud%3aaol.com%26br%3aWebSuite-AimExBeta

    edit:

for your search deal, open regedit and dig down to:

    HKey_Local_Machine>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Internet Explorer>Search

Look for the key called "Search Assistant"

Pidgen works well also. It supports more than one type of account as well.
