i'll let others chime in on this, but from what I've heard when I've driven sti's and rode in them, they sound similar.

I believe when i had my stock exhaust system it sounded the same like that, I dont think there is an issue. If you take it to the dealership they will probably tell you the same thing.

Get use to it, if not, get an evo =P

Your tranny is fine, the sound is from your tranny

kvang just has this insanely loud exhaust, so that's why he can't hear it no more.

Swing to Firestone this friday, we'll talk.

The intake seems to just work fine to me. Actually performs much better then the SPT

Well I don't get any engine check lights. It's must not be too much of a change to trigger anything. So I would go that it's safe for now.

Wow. Just wow. Do you actually bother to do any research before you start throwing things at your car? Ever done a search under "AEM CAI" on Nasioc? (Insert sound of crickets here) And how does it perform much better than the SPT unit? I'm not waving the SPT flag here, I want to hear how/why it's "much better". As far as the noise goes, I didn't hear anything that raised any warning flags. Doing 70 in a residential area is a real bright move though.

Haven't we already had 8-9 threads about your car making noise already?

seriously, use the search tool and stop beating the living piss out of the car and you wont run into these problems.

just a thought, logic in it is wonderful, but i doubt that means much to you reviewing your posts

The 6 speed definately has more of a gear whine to it in first and second. It does have gears that are almost twice as wide as the 5MT.

well yes that sound drives me nuts! im just saying. and i can prove the SPT intake sucks and why this AEM CAI is so much better. you see i've been racing my friend with a 2006 Type-S RSX. He has Cat-Back, CAI, and Headers. I lost to him everytime with the stock intake and the SPT and i couldnt figure out whats wrong. I put on my AEM tada! fuk this time he couldnt even catch up. i mean this is my experience. im not gonna go look at some test results founded on the net and say that items bad. besides whats the fun if you dont beat up ur car? might as well get a kia

yeah but there is an extent where you could utilize the search function and search here, or on another subaru forum such as Nasioc... cover the bases you know. and if you do plan to beat the living bejesus out of the car and racing it, dont be surprised if things to arise.

ok, well from my experiences with basically all subarus, the tranny and diffs whine, thats all thats to it. maybe since you have been into the power a little more than normal use you should think about changing out the fluids
