Congrats man! Ride the excitement wave until it's gone, THEN start to plan. And, the 1st thing out of everyone's mouth is "Have you chosen a date!?!" That gets annoying - tell them to calm donw... Congrats again!!!
Congrats!!! I just got done with the whole process about 3 months ago, and I am so glad to be done and just chillin' with wifey
Something along those lines. Justice of the Peace Ceremony Big Ass Korean Wedding Small American Wedding It took us 2 years to get it all done.
Congrats, eh! My suggestion: choose a soon date - a slight bit more stress but for a much, much shorter time. Cuts down on the interference. Just some experience. Congrats again!
wned: just playin. Way to go Brian! Don't be afraid to ask some of us questions. Although we are mostly a bunch of car dudes it seem as though many of us have been through the drill and probably learned a few things along the way.
Thanks for all of the support guys (and girls) it's much appreciated I decided to be a bit creative with this, so I sent her on a scavenger hunt through the Twin Cities. I had about 7 places for her to go (each place somewhere we had been while we've been dating), each location with an envelope that she had to find. Each envelope contained directions and instructions for the next waypoint. She started at her place in New Brighton and went from there to my fire station in Golden Valley. After she got to the station she went to the Golden Valley Starbucks (She manages one in Coon Rapids) where I had already paid for her to have a drink of her choice and a healthy tip for the baristas. From Starbucks her next checkpoint was the Sculpture Gardens in Minneapolis across from the Walker Art Center. Once she found that one I had her going to Mickeys Diner in St Paul, where I had prepaid for a slice of pie and a hot chocolate and yet another healthy tip. (The staff at both Mickeys and GV Starbucks played their parts perfectly, she had no idea what was coming) After Mickeys she was off to Harriet Island. I had left the envelope in a fairly easy place to find there since that's a pretty big place to search in the dark. I had also told her that she was only about 2/3 of the way through the hunt, when really she only had one stop left. I had the last envelope on a bench right next to the intersection of Prospect Blvd and Stryker Ave in St Paul. If you've never been up on Prospect it's one of the best views in MN, with a great view of downtown St Paul and the Mississippi River. My last note in the envelope told her that I'd bent the truth a bit and that it was actually her last stop, and she was supposed to wait there for her surprise. I walked up behind her and popped the question. She was completely taken aback, she had no idea what I was up to, she was expecting this sometime next month. As far as plans go, we're looking at a fall wedding. The cake is already covered, as my mom does them professionally and she's been chomping at the bit to do this for quite some time. I will undoubtedly be asking for advice in the coming months, so bear with me We are still debating whether or not to do a small ceremony and a large reception or just doing a large ceremony and reception. My family is huge (my stepdad is 12th out of 18 kids. We need a wide angle lens just for them and their families. Reunions and holidays are hell.) and so that's going to be a big consideration. IIRC my mom and stepdad had around 650 people at their wedding. Mine will likely be around that size as well. Also, I fear the current cold weather down south may likely be a result of this occasion, as my father told me the day I got engaged Hell would freeze over. I'd just like to apologize to anyone down south who is unhappy with the ice storm that just went through. I'll try to dig up some pics of the two of us...
